I Worked At Kroger Once
Permalink

I was 23 at the time. I pushed carts. they had me push carts for longer periods of time in the heat than they said i would be and the kids would play games about when to switch from carts to bagging. my fellow cart pushers were high school kids. it was depressing. one time i left a few carts behind a lady's car by mistake because the carts were broken and screwing up the rest of the carts. she demanded an apology. out of self respect i said no becausei didnt do it on purpose and im not her little bitch. i think i even flicked her off after she  threatened to have me fired, lol. anyway that didnt get me fired they were gonig to move me to a different job at the store but i think they got lazy and were gonna leave me pushing carts. i ended up gonig to jail for a few days. not my fault. my dad reported me to cops over stupid crap he had on me for days. that got me fired.

just wanna say pushing carts at kroger was the worst job i ever had and a girl who got hired to push carts instantly got a position change to cashier. oh we cant have the poor girl outside in the heat pushing carts, lol. What about me? exactly. they wouldnt even let me wear sun protection clothing. i pitty anyone who has that job i know a few people been doing that position for years. i cant believe some of yall held a kroger job for 25 years i mean seriously. wow.

Well, if you're post was trying to insult some of us you've failed miserably. You say that you can't believe some of us have held onto a "job" for 25 years, but in reality for some of us it is career. There are those who rise above the ranks who want a better career and being that I started out with no job experience and dropping out of highschool i'd say that i'm doing better than most even those who graduated. I'm earning $13.35 / hr plus benefits. I have a well established pension underway that will help me live a good life when i'm retired.

I'll be able to be a Market Manager eventually and they start out at $17.35 / hr which isn't that bad. I already earned my GED, which was a piece of cake. I'm not unintelligent or anything to that degree. School was very boring and didn't teach what I wanted to know therefore I took it into my own hands and taught myself what I wanted to know. I'm not one of the typical Kroger employees where management worships the "oz principle". This scarecrow does have a brain.

Gender bias is very rampant within the Kroger ranks. They always want the pretty girls behind the register and the guy at the end or pushing a cart like the pretty little girls can't do that **** too. Makes me ****ing sick.

All I got out of this was that you did something undeniably stupid (You just LEFT a bunch of carts outside of a coral?!) and now you're trying to play the sex card. While it's true that there are more male baggers, there are some females who can push 6 carts at a time into the building without pissing off an old lady. I don't see why you can't say sorry for something that kind of was YOUR FAULT. I also don't even understand why you think being a courtesy clerk at Kroger is a bad job. It's the easiest job in the whole damn store. You bag groceries, you bring in a few carts, and you occasionally do some dirty work like taking out the trash. The pay is appropriate and you have a lot of advancement opportunity if you decide not to be a moron about it. Kroger is a decent employer, and they really don't ask a lot of their baggers. Good luck digging ditches or whatever the hell you consider to be a 'good' job.

I know if op had flipped off my sister, he/she'd have a problem that they do NOT WANT to deal with

And if family called the cops; maybe op did something that finally pissed them off so bad a lesson must be learned.

Also; who gives a flying **** if people want ti stay here. It's THEIR choice. If they're happy then good for them. Kroger isn't all bad. It's how management runs a given store.
