1 year removed from Kroger
Permalink

So it's been a year since I have left Kroger for another company. I basically went from Co-Manager to the same position, just with a different name. So far, it's been a great year. Bonuses have been awesome (hit 75% or better of potential each quarter), better schedule, awesome management at all levels. I actually feel like I have a great chance to get my own store. I knew at kroger I'd never get my own store, I didn't kiss enough ass to get in the right club. There are some crazy making things (still doing retail accounting, antiquated technology in use), but it's still worth it. I feel better, am slowly losing weight still, my blood pressure has been better at each doctors visit, and I generally feel better. If you're a co-manager reading this, there is hope. Don't hesitate to jump ship. Don't play into their system and become a robot.

Nice post! U other drones - whether store or office mgmt.- take heed- there are many other retail companies that are a whole lot less stressful and micro-managed. Kroger is become way too anal and robotic- deep down inside many middle and most all lower mgmt. hate their jobs and the upper mgmt. but stay on due to the economy and slightly better pay with tenure. Kroger has spent a lot of money via G.O. with constant brainwashing to create a  totally compliant drone like store mgmt workforce.  and maybe for some the feeling of being totally controlled is a good fit but for the average person with any independent reasoning and abilities to manage you will feel very stifled and controlled. Also like the poster stated the arrogant, demeaning. and sometimes downright rude middle mgmt. can have an adverse effect on your health and family life with all their negative and condescending comments. Don't let them ruin your life! Sure the retail business is stressful by nature and profit is King but when you totally dehumanize it like Kroger has then it just isn't worth it! Move on and don't look back! Everyones' life should be personally enjoyed  with your health and family time way more important than the unwritten but well known KROGER COMES FIRST mentality that the abnormal and intense workaholic middle and upper mgmt who are slaves to corporate greed/profit demand from you. IT'S ONLY GROCERIES- NOT THE REASON YOU"RE ON THIS PLANET!

A large company dealing with the transportation industry. I'll leave it at that. And I'm doing quite well, actually made it back to where I was pay wise before I left Kroger.
