It sucks, whenever theres not a holiday Im always under budget :( Like, my store is small anyway so our regular weekly budget is only like $1000-$2000. And I always have crazy shrink cos I end up throwing away so many flowers after people dont buy them. Any suggestions on what I should do? Im really good at making arrangements, but the ones I make are generally over $20 and it seems people in my shop really like to spend $20 or under unless there's a holiday :(
I don't have anything to do with floral, but perhaps look into making smaller/cheaper arrangements? Have a good, better, best kind of thing that way it hits everyone.
I help with the budget a work and we make the floral department mark down and only through things away I the Mark downs don't sell. The mostly all sell.
If you can order that sheet of foam tha t you put on the bottom off the cut flowers to keep the stems wet and instead of only arrangements in the cooler wrap some flowers in cello and a bow on the weekend or busy days, put them in the cooler standing on the shelves and sell them for like 19.99 I do that w/ roses babys breath and leather leaf on Saturdays amd I get big sales!! The roses at my shop are only 10 bucks + 1.99 babys bratjand I make the 10 dollar profit!
