Costumer Complaints and Harassment
Permalink

Now ive been working at a Krogers Company for a month, the first 3 weeks were fine everything went fine nothing went wrong. Now for the past week and a half my manager has been coming to me or having someone come to me that is not in the line of authority, pulling me aside and telling me that two customers from different days had complained about a personal issue with me. At first I calmy went along with what they said and even now i have done everything they asked me to even though it wasnt far from what i have already done myself since the beginning, but he still comes to me or has a person come to me telling me the same thing over and over again now still, everyday i go into work he has made some rude comments himself about this complaint. But i have not changed one thing since i started till now and there was never any complaints or anything even said to me from any other co-worker ever even still, but yet he is still coming to me doing it and  have done everything he said i have witness's that can prove that i didnt even need to do what he said but i still did. He is looking to send me home everyday i come in while he is there now because he says that people complian even after me being there for only 10 minutes. I would like to know what can be done about this because it happens every single day?

P.S. Since this started happening, which only came about after a co-worker that i do not talk to comes into the store on nonwork days or work days and talks to the manager, He does not like me because of the only day i really had to work with him, he got stuck with the jobs no one wanted when i did something else that i was told to do, and now he himself is spreading rumors about me around the store and about the complaints to everyother co-worker. I dont know if he is the one that started it all i know is that he talks to the manager quite a bit, and is normally seen coming in there or calling him on all the days i work, and when the manager comes to me to say these things.

Can anyone tell me what i should do or have any advice?

not much of anything you can do yet. If only a month then you are not thru your probation period. Ususally 45 to 90 days depending on your contract and department. You can be released for no reason before that time is up. Once you pass it , then contact your unon and file a harrasssement complaint.

Just tell them that you weren't aware of any complaint that was made against you, as the customer never said anything to you about it. Tell him that you would be happy to make things right, if they would only explain what you are doing wrong. Sounds to me like you probably work in one of those "upscale" Krogers where the customers will complain about anything.

Everything they hear about you is just hear-say. I would explain to them that I didn't do it and the customer has no idea what they were talking about. lol

So basically the manager is on a power trip and can do anything he wants because he is manager? Not to mention he has only been manager for like 3 months

If it were me, I would arrange for a meeting with this manager, his boss, and this co worker........and just get it all out in the open. Nothing beats open communication in a safe environment that YOU have the control over. Document every thing in advance, read from it like a script; keep your cool, and talk to these people like you're a manager yourself. No guarantees that it will help, but it definitely can't hurt.

One thing is for sure: Things can't keep going on the way they are.

-----Oh, and emphasize that your interest is only in how you can find answers to a problem that is affecting store performance. Keep it away from being a personal issue.
