Are anybody's stores playing Christmas music yet?

I am just filled with dread every time I walk into the store.  Well, more than usual, anyways.

Last year, they started on freaking Halloween night and went through the second week of January, so my store is overdue.

Not yet. I'm totally looking forward to it though. I love Christmas music, and after 2 weeks of Halloween music, I'm ready for some holiday music! Working in retail hasn't ruined my love for the holidays, thankfully!

I wouldn't mind Christmas music being played in the store if they played a wide variety of it.  Our store must play at least a dozen different versions of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."

I just loved the X-files theme song playing over Halloween. I haven't heard Xmas songs, but we've gotten 22 pallets of xmas stuff and 2 pallets of xmas candy. Music is not far behind!

Please do not say Xmas. Say Chistmas. Do not take CHRIST out of Christmas. That is one thing wrong with the U.S.A today. And all the store in Atlanta Division play the same music. And that may even include all Kroger stores.

Ummmmmmm I'm not taking the Christ out of Christmas. It's an abbreviation. It doesn't change the whole holiday. Should I tell you to use United States of America?
I'm not trying to start a holy war here, but I have always found that to be a huge overreaction and there's really no point in arguing about it.
Anyway, I'm not looking forward to Christmas music anytime soon. Or Christmas in general. The real thing wrong with the US (and the whole Christian world) is that Christmas has become more and more about corporate greed and buying as much **** as you can get your hands on. I literally had to carry my 10-year old sister on my shoulders during my stepmom's last minute Christmas shopping trip to Toys R Us because people were trampling and fighting each other for whatever the cool toy was last year.
If you were truly to celebrate Christmas, it shouldn't be about gifts at all. It should be about celebrating the birth of Jesus.
Ugh, I hate talking about this crap. I am not even Christian myself.

It's better than using the word, "Holiday" in place of Christmas.  Everything now is holiday music, holiday cards, holiday tree, etc.  It's Christmas music, Christmas cards, Christmas tree, etc.  Afterall, 'tis the reason for the season.

Exactly. In fact, the reason for the X is to represent the original Roman cricifiction; the victim would literally be spread-eagled to an x shaped construction.

Well I am sorry I went off like that. I am a Christian and I do not use X. As far as the roman catholic I am sorry to offend you. And it is better than using Holiday.

I like when Christmas music is played in my store, not too early though. The day after Thanksgiving would be perfect. That's the day that kicks off the Christmas shopping season anyway. I also think that they should put up the Christmas candy and decorations on that day instead of the day after Halloween. Use that time to display more "fall" and Thanksgiving merchandise. Eggnog is fine to put out the day after Halloween, though, because a lot of people drink that on Thanksgiving too.

As far as the issue of "Happy Holidays" vs "Merry Christmas", I think it should be up to the worker and not the company to decide what to say. We have been saying "Merry Christmas" for years, and why are some people just now getting offended by it. To those people, I would say "We are not going to change tradition because you are now, all the sudden, offended by it."

Christmas is pagan and I don't celebrate it! Jesus never was the reason for the season, and Santa is really Satan it is his holiday, think about it.

Most Christmas traditions are just stolen from other traditions anyway.

Can any Christian tell me what a tree has to do with Jesus? Nope, I don't think so. :P

yea I can. The tree represents the cross.  We decorate the tree with ornaments and lights. Those represent the glory and wonder of what Christ did on the cross. Then we put gifts below the tree. That symbolizes multiple things. God gave us the gift of Jesus, the wise men gave Jesus birthday gifts and Jesus gave us the ultimate gift of salvation on that tree.

In the Bible it sounds like it is describing a Christmas tree and the Lord doesn't like them He condemns the practice. The pagans did thousands of years before Jesus was born. The Book of the Prophet Jeremiah 10 The False Gods and the True God 1  Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: 2  thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. 3  For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. 4  They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. 5  They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good. 6  ¶ Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy name is great in might. 7  Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? Rev. 15.4 for to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee. 8  But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is a doctrine of vanities. 9  Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of cunning men. 10  But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting King: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation. 11  ¶ Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens. 12  ¶ He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion. 13  When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures. 14  Every man is brutish in his knowledge: every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them. 15  They are vanity, and the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish. 16  The portion of Jacob is not like them: for he is the former of all things; and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: The LORD of hosts is his name. The Desolation of Judah 17  ¶ Gather up thy wares out of the land, O inhabitant of the fortress. 18  For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will sling out the inhabitants of the land at this once, and will distress them, that they may find it so. 19  ¶ Woe is me for my hurt! my wound is grievous: but I said, Truly this is a grief, and I must bear it. 20  My tabernacle is spoiled, and all my cords are broken: my children are gone forth of me, and they are not: there is none to stretch forth my tent any more, and to set up my curtains. 21  For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the LORD: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered. 22  Behold, the noise of the bruit is come, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah desolate, and a den of dragons. 23  ¶ O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps. 24  O LORD, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing. 25  Pour out thy fury upon the heathen that know thee not, and upon the families that call not on thy name: for they have eaten up Jacob, and devoured him, and consumed him, and have made his habitation desolate.

It looks as if He wasn't condemning the practice, but more likely thought it was silly. He felt that it took the focus off of where it really should be... on God.

Centuries ago in Great Britain, woods priests called Druids used evergreens during mysterious winter solstice rituals. The Druids used holly and mistletoe as symbols of eternal life, and place evergreen branches over doors to keep away evil spirits.
