It's November & someone cut the heater wire on the dock. I work on the dock. I've been told by management that the wire was cut by maintenance because someone put ice on the sensor so the heater would run. The heater is set at 55 degrees & 15 feet in the air & doesn't kick on until it's about 40 degrees. I personally have put ice on the sensor so the heater would run. It's cold on the dock & I don't want to work with my coat on. With the wire cut the heater doesn't work at all. I went to the doctor yesterday, I have bronchitis & the start of pneumonia. Why would a maintetnance guy cut the wire??? There is a switch on the wall to shut it off & wouldn't you just remove the sensor from the ice? rather than cut the wire? It doesn't make sense & I don't know who to complain to.
The wire was cut on Friday Nov. 2. It's been 5 days without heat on the dock. I suspect someone in the store cut the wire so management is not contacting the maintenance dept. to fix it because they don't want to get this person in trouble.
How would you know what size my dock is? Resort to name calling, that's the same kind of maturity I get at work
Because you work at Kroger and no Kroger has more than four doors. I've loaded on big truck docks that aren't even fully enclosed in the ohio winter. Quit being such a little bitch.
Thank you for the suggestion. I can't miss work or afford to take off. The name of the post is Heater wire cut on the dock?? No one has even mentioned that it was blatant destruction of Kroger property. I wanted to report it. I've been swore at and called names. Is that the point of this forum?
I was just saying that maybe you could ask to work in a different position in the store while this is being fixed. While this is not the same as reporting it, it still send Kroger the message that this will not be tolerated and that it should be fixed. If they give you any problems, report the incident.
call OSHA if management won't do anything. besides the temperature, you've presumably got a bare live electrical wire in your workplace (why the **** didn't they just unplug it or cut the breaker, idiots)
also make sure to document all incidents of name calling, abuse etc that you recieve related to this, with dates, times, names and as many specific details as you can recall

Because taking on a potential health hazard doesn't fall under your pay grade. Management needs to have an electrical contractor handle the problem-----yeah, sounds anal, I know, but with all the liability attached, it's really what needs to happen.
oh no its a little chilly and i have a cold i better throw a big fit and quit my job
I can see why you might say this, but it really is a safety and health issue. While s/he COULD suck it up, they really shouldn't have to. The company is responisble for the safety of all people in the building, whether they are customers or employees.
