Missed vacation

I have not had a vacation and my manager said I might not get one. Can the company get fined for not giving me a vacation. Especially if I am a minor.

go to HRexpress and look to see if you have vacation time.  Let us know once you do this then we can guide you on what needs to be done.

check your contract and see what it says. If yoiu are entitled to the vacation, then they must give it to you before the year is out.

Management has no right to not give it to you. Now the officail company policy is that everyone that has a vacation is to take their vacation before the end of the year. Stores are not aloud to just give you the pay instead of the vacation but it happens and some store managers will let that happen, money in exchange for the vacation time.

If you want the money instead of the time then ask them about it. If you want the vacation time and they just can not find the time to give it to you, then call your local union and have a rep come to you.

does not matter if you are a part timer or full timer.

How long have you been with the company? Most of the time its 1 vacation for 1 year if you're full time. If you're part-time its usually based on the average number of hours you work.

Then it will either carry over to the next year or they will just pay it out at the end of the year.

Screw that!  Go print out your remaining vacation time as it shows on HRexpress.  Then type a "one page memo" that says you have so and so days of vacation time remaining for this fiscal year.  Tell them that you plan to use / take these days by the end of year.  Say that you understand that you are unable to take these days off during Christmas week so ask them (and literally have a calendar print out of the remaining weeks left) to mark down what days will be best  to take the time off. So throw the damn ball back at them and see what they say.  While you do that, go give a copy to your union representative at your store or at least talk to him/her to let them know about the situation.

So, if I had a certain week on the schedule, and now 9 months later finally am eligible for it, have planned things to do around the house and with my family, and I am on the schedule to work that week, that's not allowed? I did get paid for it already. But I am still scheduled to work.

Sounds wrong altogether to me. I was told by a long time (25 years or more) employee, that once the March 1st dealine has passed, and they haven't told you you can't take that week, then that's the schedule.
