let go from krogers after false claims

I started at krogers in September as a front end cashier. They did my first review late, about 1 1/2 months of being there. Everything was good except that they said I had one customer complaint and that was that "I didn't talk much and didn't smile". They proceeded to say that I didn't interact with the customers. Whatever! I did interact with the customers to the extent that customers: gave me a recipe, told me where they were from, told me where they lived, what they were going to school for, told me what they were cooking, told me how the best way to cook certain items, one customer even invited me to her home and told me where she lived and that she was new to the area. I helped customers find certain items, explained about the remodeling, listened to their complaints about the remodeling and offered maps to the items, etc, etc, etc. How much more interaction do they need.

It is hard to believe that the managers even noticed what I was or wasn't doing because every time I needed a manager override, they had to be paged and weren't even around.

It was all just an excuse to let me go after they found out that I was disabled with MS.

They are a butch of liars at the Zanesville, Ohio Kroger store.

And their discrimation is alive and active!

It's Ohio. They were paying dues into the union on their first paycheck. There's no choice about it. You work at Kroger in a union position, you are in the union.

However, if the OP got fired for being disabled, that a whole other can o' beans right there. But that pesky 90 day probabtion period will be their fall back on why OP was fired.

Union or not, they can't discriminate because of MS!  That pisses me off that they are doing that to you.

Well, they couldnt have fired inless under a 30 day probation period..amiright?

I work in a union Kroger,as well, but there is a 30 day probation at the start where you do not pay union dues and they can come up w/a BS excuse, or not even give one, and fire you. they did the first interview late, though. so who knows? she prob. has a case..but why try w/ they way things are now?

MAYBE YOU DODGED A BULLET!!:)

Oh I absolutely believe the OP has a case! But OP is definitely in the union. My first check part of my initiation fees came out over a 4 week period. Paying for the union is being in it! Luckily, I'm no longer in a union position within the store. I like my money in my pocket, and wish I had had a choice about it. regardless, that is neither here nor there. OP has a case to bring up against management, especially if they feel they were discriminated against. That's bull****, and should not be tolerated!

Americam with Diabilities Act - find a lawyer !

Your disability did not prevent you from performing your job and you did it without any accomodation.
