In my union contract, there is a provision that states:
"When scheduling two (2) or more employees for less than an 8 hour shift for a similar assignment in the same classification, there shall be a lapse of at least two (2) hours between shifts."
I've asked several people about how to interpret this, but have yet to come to a definite interpretation.
Could someone give me two examples in scheduling that would be against the said rule? The people I've asked have all given me different answers, including the union stewards.
My guess is if one of you is scheduled to come in at 8:00, the other one can't be scheduled before 10:00. Maybe it's a way to keep people from taking their breaks and lunches at the same time. I've never heard of such a rule myself.
