Is your store cutting hours?

At my store hours have been cut drastically this week.  The two previous weeks included two visits from company VP's and now that they are gone we get nothing.  I worked in the deli today and not only were the opener and myself scheduled 2 1/2 hours apart to begin with, Our chicken person called in 15 minutes before the start of her shift.  So the opener had to do chicken and I had to do everything else.  Our closer(the only one) didn't come in until 7 we 1/2 hours after I came in.  And the only person we were allowed to call to see if they could come in was a guy who called in earlier in the week, and we couldn't get ahold of him.  We were told no overtime what so ever!

Posted by the time clock and lying on the break room table were letters stating that as of today no hours are to be added to the schedule at all unless approved by management.  It also stated that we have a budget to meet and if we have any ideals on how to save hours this weekend to share them.  They don't staff our store as it is and they want us to help cut more, WTF!

Before I go, I must also tell you that posted on our bulletin board was an article stating that Kroger had better than projected quarterly results so they seem to be making money, so where is our ****ing help?!

I was told hours were coming back. they've been cut every week for a month now.  we waste more time calling people in or stealing from other depts. makes no sense.

I've been getting more hours (if by 21 you mean more, but compared to 12/16 it is) but it's only because everyone's trying to cram their remaining vacation and personal days by the end of the year. I'm sure it's going to be cut way back once it's January.

they cut ours toward the end of the year because that is how the managers get their bonuses..end of the year bonuses. cut and save the last three months.

I work at the newest store in Houston, store #17 in the Heights and our hours have been cut. I saw a schedule yesterday that had me for 34 hours this week in my department, but now it's down to 16 hours and today I had to bag, push carts and help out in produce. Some employees I talked to had the same thing happen to them and they are pissed. Hopefully this will be a temporary.

My store is cutting hours too.

The funny part is that they just hired two more cashiers.

Some of the old timers actually know their union rights though, so they are going to take all their shifts.

And then the new guys will get tired of getting no hours, and we'll be right back where we started.  Hilarious.

The schedule is sad.  Everybody who's full time gets whatever.

Everybody who isn't gets 15 or less hours.
