Fixed my signature. Well, yeah it comes off as crooked to me like they're deciding on a deal before its even made. Its been going on that way for the past 5 contracts apparently.

I was told recently about something that goes on in negotiation meetings and I thought this was very interesting. In the meetings apparently the said human resources personnel representing Kroger will step outside of the meeting with one of the lead negotiations for the union and talk outside the meeting. I'm wondering whats so important that they can't say in front of everyone else? If I am elected to be on the neogiation team you can damn well know that I will stand up and say "if you have anything to say you need to say it in this room".

Cutter, you know I don't work for Kroger or get represented by any union, but I back you all the way on this one. Any negotiations between a self-serving company you work for, and the union you pay to work for you, cannot possibly hold integrity when shiit like you described is going on.
Oh, and to the grammar police? I misspelled shiit.
it looks crooked that they go outside and chat. but what if they simply text the guy ir typed a e-mail. you would never see what it says. they could "hey i got to go pee" and leave the room then the other guy waits a couple minutes and goes out also. they chat about whatever. so what.

300+ dollars a year we pay for union. What a scam. The competion around here gets higher rates and the benefits are near the same. Haven't seen the union rep guy in our store in months.

Been there when it has happened and does happen a few times during talks. Never seen anything decided without the whole committee being involved. Generally it is a case where either side will call for it just so that the leaders can get a more specific understanding of an issue. It is also a time where a critical item(s) will get more clarification. Never seen used to settle any contract item with out the approval of the entire committee voting on it. Generally I have seen the union side take one or two of the senior members out with them to discuss the issue. Always seen our leader(s) come back in and discuss what was said outside the area. Usually it is a point that Kroger is trying to make and feels that trying to influence the few may result in them pushing an issue down the other committee members throats.
T will generally happen when one side gets to a point where they just do not want to or can budge on an issue and want to express that to each other on a private side bar first.

Yes, but the point of the committee is to be the middle men to the decision of the contract. The whole going outside to discuss it seems rather shady to me. It is the assumption they're discussing about issues that they can't budge on but I feel as though it can damage our contract in the end. I also firmly believe that people who are retired from Kroger shouldn't be allowed to neogiate union contracts as they have nothing to lose and who knows what kickbacks Kroger might be giving them after retirement.
