Hi, I've recently inquired about getting into this position. I would like a little info about how the accounting process goes down and what things I should prepare for. If anyone has any experience please state what it's like and your likes/dislikes about the position.
You can get into floor supervision and customer service separately from accounting.
Customer service involves: cigarettes lottery western union ticketmaster check cashing returns/refunds/exchanges lost and found answering phones directing customers answering questions from pretty much every employee and customer etc
We are on lean accounting, which includes:
the daily bookkeeping process counting and resetting all tills filling SCO bills and coins filling lottery stand at the desk and freestanding vending machine counting loose coins through the coinstar emptying and counting drink machines ordering cash and coin for the next day/week
all of which can take 3-4 hours on a good day, or 6-8 (or more) on a bad day.
The accountant is the person who opens in the morning and you would need to have a good two or more years in the service desk to open.
Nah, not really. Our accounting person was trained in that position before she did any floor supervision or customer service. And I only did those positions for a few months before I was trained for it.
