Suspened: Violence in the Workplace
Permalink

I was 'Suspened' earlier today. For 'Violence in the Workplace.'  They have to 'review the situation' before I can go back to work.

Today, Not even 2 minutes into my shift, that annoying woman (I talked about earlier in the Treated Unfairly Post) who hates me for absolutely no reason, gave me another box of loose bags and tells me to use them, I say OK, and thats that. Of couse it wouldn't be that easy, not with her.

While in the middle of bagging some poor customers groceries, she starts to take away my bag racks, preventing me from working properly. And me, being in uder shock refectivly tries to stop her. (Reflexs, When someone tries to take something from you by suprise, you try to stop them? Yeah, I sure everyones got them.) I grab her arm. (Huge mistake! I Know! D: )

I ask her why she is only doing this to me, and she just laughs. I look to my left, and my fellow baggers still have their bag racks, so why are mine being taken away? Right in the middle of bagging? (You could not imagine how embrassing that was) I hurried and tried to finish bagging, and quickly went into the break room. I couldn't stop crying for some reason. Maybe because she constantly called me back to the front, and I knew I'd get fired for grabbing her arm. I called my mom to come pick me up, because I was tired of her bulls**t. I wanted to quit. There is no way that she could treat me like that and I be the one in the wrong. Then she had the nerve to come into the bathroom and tell me to go back to the front. B***h, like I didn't hear you the 30 frigging times you said it. She saw that I was crying. You should have seen the big stupid smile plastered all over  her face. Then had to audacity to ask why was I crying.

I finally got my act together and went to the front. The boss wasn't there so another manager talked with me. Two actually, and asked me what was wrong, I tried my best to tell them what was happening, (I started crying again, I cry when my stress is high -_-) and of couse they said it was all in my head and that I was just imaginging her picking on only me. They let me off with a warning, so I went back to work.

About 5 minutes later, I saw that someone had left their groceries on and lane that was closed. And I noticed that some of those groceries were perishables, so, like I am supose too, I went to bring it back, she was looking at me the whole time, and the second I was on my way to bring the perishables back to were they belong, she called me back to the front. I brought them back anyway. It was orange juice and cookie dough, But right when I got back, and pointed and me, like she was my mother or something, and told me that she doesn't want me doing gobacks. So am I suppose to just let perishable food just sit out and spoil until she allows me to bring it back as if I am some kind of slave? No ****ing way. I didn't want to deal with her any longer. And All I could think about the rest of my shift was that there is no way this is happening.

Then the annoying woman got some cashiers to write about what happened, which I don't know how that is possible, since they were all doing their work and could no way clearly understand what was going on, and she got me suspened. I was notified 10 minutes before my shift ended. I sighed the papers and them went home.

Also, she claims I kicked the box with the loose bags in them, when I was just moving it out of my way. I moved it with my foot, but I probably didn't it a little hard, and from a distance it looked like I kicked it out of anger. -_- Who wouldn't be mad after that happened?

I always get compliments on my work, I don't see what her problem is.

Sorry for the long story, I just had to let it all out. I might as well start looking for another job. I truly regret ever going to work for Kroger, that had to be the worst experience for a first job ever.

What does being suspened even mean? How is it different from termination? I'm sure that I am not going to win this. -_-

There are people like this in the workplace who try and assert people over you and love it, but you shouldn't have to put up with it.
Obviously, she is trying to be a controlling bitch and I can't see why you've even come to this place in the first place when
you cannot even follow instructions when we've given advice in the first place. You should of been documenting this and called a
comanager to deal with this in the first place, however we can still salvage this if you LISTEN.

First off this woman is not your boss, you do not have to listen to her. If you need to be barked orders these needs to come
from your floor supervisor or the front-end manager. If she escalates the situation you call a co-manager. What you need
to do now is call your Union Representative and DO NOT sign anything they give you. Tell him/her what is going
on and stay on their case. If at all possible try and get some statements from some of your coworkers and turn
them into your representative.

I would also go up there today and talk with your store manager on what is going on without crying. Next time you have someone like this you should tell them to get ****ed if they're not your boss.

What u shoulda done was knocked her on her ass.....plain and simple....with all the bull****  that occurs daily tryin to get your work done... you should not have to put up with that bitches harrasment.. people see her doin this to you...so it wont take much to get her ass in trouble. If I would have been the customer that was being checked out when she removed the bag racks....I WOULD HAVE ASKED FOR A MANAGER AND TOLD THEM UNTIL U FIX THAT BITCHES PROBLEM I AIN'T COMIN BACK AND WOULD WOULD HAVE WALKED OUT. These kind of people are in every store doin this **** everyday.

nevermind, i misunderstood the story at first. what you should do is go and talk to the front end manager and the store manager, be proactive in explaining your side of the story to them. be assertive but not arrogant or obnoxious and there's a possibility you can win them over. it's a BS violence claim and they know it..

also seconding the recommendation to contact the union

it's unclear to me what her position is relative to yours.  is she a supervisor to you, like someone at customer service?

if she really was taking your bagging racks while you were bagging, tell them to check the video.  did the cashier you were bagging for not see anything going on?  some days i'm so busy at the register i know i wouldn't notice something like that.

it's possible that person is intimidated as well either because they're new or just want to keep their job and not make waves.

there are bullies out there. she could be one.

I had a teacher who did things just to screw with students. she'd come by and smack my elbow during an exam. she was always trying to get a rise out of me because she hated my older brother who had been a student of hers.  he was an easy mark in the class room, an insecure average student who struggled, i was not so she was wasting her time playing games with me.

she had a reputation for doing things, even touching male students inappropriately, but no one felt they could complain to someone in authority even kids of other school staff.

I did follow the advice. I wrote everything down exactly how I remembered it and was going to give it to my boss yesterday, when this event took place, but he was not there. I didn't trust the supervisior there because they are all her friends, so I was just going to give it to him tomorrow.

Oh really? I used to live there. Which part of Texas are you in? I used to work at the Brownwood Kroger but I moved 6 months ago so I transferred.

Cameras don't lie, like the co-workers she got to lie for her. Tell them to look at the cameras if they want to know what really happened.

Wow.. suspended? And you didn't even pull a knife on anyone! Yep.. we have one who did that to another employee, nothing, just moved her lazy useless ass over to the dept. I work in. Joy! I do all the work as she wonders around only to come inform me she's 'going on break'. It's odd, the stuff that goes on in Krogerland. I wish you luck. If this bitch didn't get the boot, you surely shouldn't!

The lady who was screwing with you is messed up and is taking out her **** on you for no reason. And since it seems that it won't quit I would walk away too.
