Total hyprocrassy here; gonna put that up front. I'm a salaried manager for Wal-Mart, but I do almost all my shopping at Kroger these days. Because why? Because first off, the prices/selections have become increasingly competitive. CHRIST, we can't even compete with Road Ranger or 7-11 any more!
But more importantly, when I shop late at night (which I've been doing for many years; there's a lot to be said for having only 5---8 other customers in the store), I ain't trying to walk five square fking farm acres just to get my mouth wash and tooth paste. I don't need to find maintenance guys leaning on brooms, over whole grocery areas I need to get to all roped off for mopping.
In all? THANK GOD for my neighborhood 24 HR. Kroger. The place is set out for the customer: You don't need two hours and the latest pair of orthopediactically correct, athletically balanced and sports endorsed running shoes just to get what you need.
Those are all the reasons I don't like shopping at WM also. Our Kroger is set up in a way that makes a ton of sense and has a lot of flow. Heaven forbid if you go against that flow, it's like being a salmon and swimming upstream on a busy day. I've found that a lot of our prices are better than WalMarts prices and I think it goes without saying that the selection is better also. WM produce makes me sad, also.

when i check out at wally's, i either go to the jewerly counter or to customer service where the ladys there are doing their nails most of the time and have them check me out.
