I understand that to get holiday pay you must work your scheduled day before and after Christmas. Since it snowed quite a bit the day after Christmas I felt it wasn't safe to try to come in so I called off. Something like 20 people called off the front end alone. I was wondering if I would still get holiday pay considering the situation?
I'm not the original poster, they must have cheated me out of the holiday pay I was off the day after Christmas but worked on the day before and I've been with the company 26 years, so did they screw me out of it?

In some contacts, you have to work all three days or just the day before and after a holiday if the storew is closed to receive holiday pay.
Every year, we have the 10% discount off everything special for employees. This year we had an additional 10% off for one day only, following Black Friday. But---get this---: ONLY if you were scheduled to work on Black Friday. Two problems here. One, even if you busted your ass for the two weeks prior to the event but weren't scheduled that one day, you didn't get the discount. And two: Employees had no say-so of not being scheduled either way.
This has got to be the dirtiest load of crap I've ever seen pulled in that business.

I'm not union but as far as I knew with everyone you had to work your schedule either the entire week, or both your scheduled day before and after the holiday. If you're not on the schedule on Dec 26 that doesn't count against you since you're not scheduled. Check with HR.

Thats how it is with my contract. If you work your 40 hours for the week you SHOULD get the holiday pay unless they schedule you 32 hours. You'll then get 32 + 8 hours holiday pay.

Thats how our schedule works. I work 32 hours this upcoming week, and get my 8 hours holiday pay for new years day. Since we are open on NYD, whomever is working it gets those hours as PH time instead.
I worked the whole 16 days straight before and on Thanksgiving. Got Black Friday off. And no holiday pay for me? But another cashier worked the day before and after but not Thanksgiving and got it?! She's been there less time than me! I worked 17 days straight and she had most of those days off and came in over an hour late on Black Friday?! Wtf?1
Hello dude..if you have do work last 5 years then its right to get the pay because a lot of work done for the management..management also have right to take care of his/her labor..i think pay demand for the holidays is the right of the labor..
I guess my store is one of the good ones... I started at Kroger right around Labor Day weekend (Thursday-Tuesday in a row). I got my holiday pay on Labor Day without a problem. So I guess it depends on how nice your manager is.
