Under our contract for parents, siblings, spouse, and children you get three paid days off. Of course that doesn't mean you can't take more. You just won't get paid for them. For grandparents, aunts, uncles, or in-laws you get one paid day off.
They cannot threaten your job just for going to a funeral. What you need to do is write a letter with the obituary and send a copy of the date you're attending to the store, HR, and the union. It varies from contract to contract on funeral pay basis, but under my contract we even get funeral pay for step-fathers, step-brothers, step-sisters, etc.

You do not have to find your own replacement. You may have to provide some sort of evidence that you actually went to a funeral, but attending a funeral is a legitimate reason to miss work.
