i don't know my hours yet but i just worked a 40 hour week at part time got told last night i wouldn't be needed saturday and saw a for hire sign outside for a groc/clerk which i what i do i do not now what to think.....
Best thing I can tell peeps re these cut hours: Make yourself so useful and valuable on your job that management wants you around more. Believe it or not, this truly works.
My store has been cutting hours since around Thanksgiving yet still hiring more people. Yet I'm only getting 28 hours this week. Most people under me are only getting mid to low 20's.
Well, I been getting week after week of 40 hrs or maybe 35, and I am called pt, go figure.. This week it's cut some, thankfully, as I only want pt hrs anyways. But that didn't come easy. DAMN! Is the union to blame for it being this way? Some contract thing having to do with 12 weeks in a row at so many hrs then you are ft? Or is it cause I'm new and not in the union yet and can be worked like a dog?
nah its pretty standard procedure at kroger so you don't become full time..12 weeks at 40 hrs (your local may vary somewhat), and you become automatically placed onto the full-time benefit/pay scale. as far as i know the union can't really do much about this

There should be a "union" or some sort of government organization to keep employers (and unions, really) from taking advantage of their employees like this. I don't care if it's technically within the rules; it's still exploitation.
