This is sort of correct. While each state does have its own guidelines, there are federal laws:

in my state (virginia) youd make minimum wage (7.25 a hour) and they have given me up to 32 hours. set your availability for whenever you want to work, the more open your availability, the more hours you get b/c the computer makes the schedule. you will get less hours than those working there for 10 years but i was getting good hours when i started (again, up to 32)

wait till youre 16 or 17 to get a job, youll get no respect now and the money isnt worth it

oh and im not sure if wages are different for under 16
