A Cincinnati Kroger store had to shut operations yesterday afternoon for a couple hours b/c of sewage coming up from various points throughout the store. It was, needless to say, a crappy situation! There were probably close to 6 to 8 different spots where this sewage was oozing up out of. A plumber was called who reamed out the lines and made things all better. Then a hose down took place and business resumed. This is an ongoing scenario at this location happening around 10 times over the past year or so. If the smell wasn't bad enough, the employer makes the employee clean up the crap. Contacting OSHA, they say this is permissible as long as the employer provides proper equipment. I argue they don't - simply get in there and deal with it. I am not faulting per say the employer but much rather see this situation corrected permanently. its time to stop screwing around and get to the root cause of why crap keeps coming up through the pipes
it happened at the Maderia store. I agree it is on the city's side but still it sucks to be involved with it. The store was recently remodeled. Also it sits at a bottom of a hill sort of in this wierd gully and there are rail road tracks on the side. I have to post as an anon in order to protect my identity

Built on a down hill basin? WOW, THAT was great store planning! All I can figure was that Corp felt the black trumped the red on this.
How is it built going downhill? I hope people don't leave their carts on the asle's they will roll. And if they just remodeled why didn't they just build a new store? Georgia and this whole Division has gotten alot of stores built over the past few years. I know Kroger has money to invest into a new store if that one is messed up that bad. Was it bad before the remodel?

LMFAO. I'm sure the store is level but it situated in a basin.

it's because everyone in town goes to kroger to walk around all day. i mean come on, it's cincinatti, of course since they're there all day, everyone takes a crap at kroger. so it's nobody's fault really as much as it is everyone ****ting in the same place, imo

It would not suprise me if it was not level. You know it's Kroger.
At least they closed down your store, during the sewage mess. I work for a store in Indiana and we have drain backups in our deli/meat dept about every 4-6months. It was so bad the last time, they had a plumber attempt to fix it by snake-ing the deli floor drain, all he was doing was splashing sewage all over the deli and us dept employees at the time just wanted to close the dept for a while to clean and sanitize the place.. The management said no and keep working/serving customers at the counter even with a plumber splashing sewage and stuff all over behind us. I so wish a customer would have called the board of health.
YOU need to call the board of health! take a photo or two. send it off to whoever. tell them you feel sick due to the smell and need to sit down. dont refuse to work rather say you are sick....
