Met with hiring manager 2 weeks ago for a pharmacy tech position and still haven't heard anything back. I want to call, but don't want to seem pushy. The general concensus on the net is that the background check takes about 2 weeks, but this wait is a killer.

Call. There are so many applicants that the squeaky wheel will get heard. Not calling can hurt you more than calling every couple days.
