My thoughts exactly..
I can give you some of the more popular codes and anything that's in my head right now. Also, it's best to just look for the code on the apples because some look exactly alike. (3283, 4135, 4131, 4103, 3294, etc.) There's just too many different kinds to know really.
4011 Bananas
4062 Cucumbers
4166 Sweet Onions
4161 (New one for Yellow onions that I've been getting instead of 4166 now)
4593 Long Cucumbers rapped in plastic

Back when I was a checker we had lookup numbers instead of plu codes. They were only 1 or 2 digits. They had to be used for eggs too because they didn't have upc numbers on them then. I can only remember a few.
produce codes are universal they are the same all over. some have more than one code and just because we dont sell everything on the list does not make it wrong.
well maybe there are multiples! Heck, im a newbie remember! LOL Its just when I looked at what was on that link none of them matched up to what everyone else has said
There is also a code for a book of stamps, which I found out from this forum. It is 6531. You might want to ask your supervisor if it's ok to use it. I asked mine, but he never got back to me on it. It would be good to use when you can't find a barcode for them on your register.
