The longer I work here the more let down I feel I work so hard and dedicate myself to the job and still can't get anywhere they expect more and more and ELMS hours are definitely sent down by people who have never worked behind the counter I'm not paid near what I'm worth other stores are paying my position $6 more an hour I'm starting to think its time to start looking for a job with someone else at least if I deal with the same bull ill be getting paid enough to make a living and maybe someone will notice how hard I work and I can move up to having a career I wish Dave dillon would stop looking at Kroger from the customers perspective and start finding out what's going on with his employees he's going to lose valuable people if they keep getting overlooked

Kroger as a company doesn't care who stays or who goes. The employee that goes the extra mile is going to be treated the same as the employee that gets by doing the absolute bare minimum. That's because it's not at all about putting the customer first but rather putting the bottom line first above all else. Kroger is in business to make money like any other business out there, but it wouldn't hurt the company's bottom line that much to invest in their employees and cultivate a world class retailing team at their stores that's energized and happy and thus willing to do whatever it is they can to ensure the customer leaves highly satisfied, returns frequently and recommends the stores to others.

But that would require actual effort.

Well, they invest a lot of effort in constructing an elaborate facade to make it appear they're putting the customer first and that they're better than their competition when it comes to taking care of the customers, so it wouldn't require that much additional effort to actually enact measures designed to improve the overall experience of the customer. If Kroger thinks it will ever beat out Walmart with what it's doing/trying, then it's in for a wait that will never end.
when you say "additional effort", i think you mean $$$
Yes. I believe though when you invest money in your workforce, you'll end up making more money down the line. People that are paid well and treated with respect and decency will generally work harder at their jobs because they won't want to lose their jobs. A happy retail team at work in a positive environment should boost productivity and customer service. Of course, you can't simply pay more and thus expect better results. You need to have a system in place to weed out those just getting by and those that don't really care until you have in place a great retail team. Then you do what you can to keep that great retail team so that the customers consistently leave with what they came in for as well as receive friendly, above and beyond service while in the store. A motivated, productive, happy and friendly retail team that strives for excellence is, I believe, a key component when trying to stay ahead of your competitors and increase sales.

if kroger wants to succeed its simple. YES it IS simple with as far as they have come up to this point. Happy employees means happy customers. When an employee feels dumped on they have a bad attitude and customers don't want to deal with that. If they paid their employees more than 50% less than what other companies paid theyre hiring process would be more efficient so there would be less immature kids being hired and people would want to keep their job, therefore they would work for it, however I do see a problem with work ethic a lot more than before. I work hard regardless but if another company offered me a job doing the same thing for better pay, I would say I would take it (as would anyone right) but some people form a loyalty to a company when they feel appreciated JUST SAYIN
