If someone is beligerant or curseing i simply tell them "sir and or madam, i am not paid to sit here and take belittleing comments from you, im going to walk away from you and if you have a problem with it you can contact management or i will contact them for you"
Management always take my side on this and i have never had this not work.
One time I was cutting deli meat for some guy, and he was just really argumentative for no reason. "Would you like anything else?" "I don't know. DO I?" It may sound like he was joking, but he said it in a really angry tone, and also his entire order was him acting like that. "How much would you like?" "I don't know. YOU TELL ME." What the hell. What is your problem? I still don't know.
During my first year or two there was an eldery man that used to shop in the store I worked at. He used one of the motorized carts. He especially did not like to deal with feamle employees for some reason. When he would go to the deli he would use the beep horn on the motorized cart and say "I want service you dumb bitches" or something totally inapproproate or hurtful. I was just polite as I could be with him when he came into the store. One time one break I was waiting in line buying a coke and some snacks and he asked me to get him a bottle of coke too. I said ok do you want just one or two to take home to your wife @ home? "Wife he says, I'm not married" I've have been not interested in women for years, I like men." (nothing wrong with that) but I then realized his motives on why he was rude to females. I also stayed clear of him as well.

I was the opening cashier one morning and had a difficult customer.
He wanted everything bagged so specifically, and he was telling me how to do it, when the baggers was a foot away. Like, he wanted four little cans of cat food by itself, double bagged. everything double bagged.
So he got pissed when it wasn't bagged right, then when he found out I didn't give him the senior discount, he yelled and threw his wallet at me.
Then had a bitch fit when I told him to go to customer care. Had to get the person working customer care to actually cone to my register, refund all of his stuff just so he could pay for it again. he barely saved 50˘
We had to open up another register just so the customers behind him could check out.
In my defense, it was 7:30am and I wasn't even scheduled to work on senior day. It was a last minute call in.
oh man senior day. they really are the meanest customers
Yes they are!
We have one who refuses to talk to the women, always wants the men to help him. Talks down to us girls all the time, but the best part is he looks exactly like Fat Bastard from Austin Powers.
I have a woman who won't let me wait on her. I have no idea what I could have done to her, I don't remember seeing her around before the first time she told me she didn't want me to wait on her. She practically growled "I'll wait." I shrugged and said "be my guest." The second time she did it, there were only two people working and my coworker had just gone on break a minute before. She waited in line about 10 minutes for someone else to help her before she gave up and left to do some shopping. By the time she came back, my coworker had come back but there was a huge line and she had to wait a long time. When she left, I laughed. I haven't seen her back since.
Oh, I've seen people pitch a fit. I've seen people curse up a storm. I've seen some angry, angry people. I saw a longtime 20+ year veteran cashier once get called out for being dumb, and not knowing how to do her job. Like she was there for TWENTY PLUS years for no reason at all, and was treated like she'd just started. And I saw her maintain a composure I've never seen anyone else do. Of course, later she wished she had said, "Don't let the door hit you where the dog bit you", but she never said it. Ah! Another time, another place...I've even had managers tell me that a lot of times people start things, they act out for attention...If they make a big enough stink about something, maybe they'll get their way, get free merchandise, a discount or something. Not that the store will just give in to anyone's demands, mind you, no matter what they say. The squeakiest wheel doesn't always get oiled first! But it sure is fun to watch them try!!!
I make it very clear to the people who work for me: DON'T TAKE ANY ABUSE. A lot of managers will hide behind that bull sht of "well, just service the customer." Not me. I say, the customer IS always right, true.......Until the customer becomes an ass hole.
At that point, send 'em to ME. I will happily send them packing.
Yes!!!! I think if you work for kroger with the public you experience it everyday. this Lady threw a huge fit when we wouldnt take her coupons that she had on her phone from some app. We told her we had to have a paper to turn in for credit and she blew up throwing the race card and screaming at everyone. But me i just smiled and kinda laughed becase she was acting like a kid. which pissed her off even more.
As soon as i see that they are getting pissed off i dont even bother to deal with them i just call the csm or a manager. I ask them if they want to speak to one if they say no i just say well im sorry but i think he can help you better than i can. but usually they want to.
it happened when I had just gotten hired, so I had no idea where anything was. I was working early morning.....and some crazy paranoid man approaches me, asking me: "where the h*ll are the orange cupcakes that they had right here?! they took em off and that's what I f*cken came for!! just for some milk and cupcakes, that's all!!! MILK AND CUPCAKES, MILK AND CUPCAKES" I was frantically looking for orange f*cken cupcakes....and he just kept getting more impatient. "what the h*ll is so hard 'BOUT FINDING SOME M***** FU**** CUPCAKES?"
I WISH I COULD'VE ANSWERED: well if it's so easy, you would've found them by now, and you wouldn't be needing my help!!!!!!!
I feel like my store gets the largest amount of rude people. and crazy ones.
