Was just wondering does anyone know what policy is on a employee getting arrested while off the clock for a mis.assault.My fellow co worker was placed on suspension until HR decides if he us terminated. This was done 2 weeks ago and my boss says that he hasnt heard back on anything..also says if he does come back they dont have to back pay him for the forced time off.My boss has been caught in lies alot and just wondered if anyone knew policy on this matter because this coworker is a good worker and would hate to see him go.
I'm not sure about the back pay issue, but I do know they are well within their rights to fire an employee who is arrested. It "reflects poorly on the company"

They don't have to backpay him. They can suspend you for violations of law, no matter how small.

If you want to know what they can or can't do... call your union.. that's what they are there for.. if you don't happen to be a member.. you should be.
Well as i had thought ,they didnt have any grounds to fire him ,nor should he had been suspended. They do have to back pay him since he didnt willingly miss work..we all learn something new...so remember that for future knowledge, cause the company wont tell you when they are doing you wrong..
