Can employees petition to have a manager fired?

So, I have a manager who, from what I've heard, is three grievances away from getting fired. Everyone knows she'll act up and it'll happen eventually, but most of us are just getting tired of dealing with her constant demeaning attitude and incompetence. Seriously, the store would function so much better without her. But she's black and female, while all our other managers are white men, so our store needs the diversity. She's constantly getting other people to do her work, and then getting mad at them when their work isn't done. She makes baggers face the wine and carry things around for her, and then blames us when the front end slows down and we get blipped. It's getting obnoxious. I was just wondering, are employees are allowed to petition to have a manager fired? And are managers allowed to retaliate against petitions? Any insights or previous experiences would be helpful to hear, as well.

Many years ago we had an over night salaried manager who was completely hateful and impossible to get along with. Over thirty hourly employees from both evening and over night shifts petitioned for her removal.

NOT ONLY did that NOT work, well over half of those people were mysteriously fired over the next year. It was gradual, and conducted by three managers---including her. She's still there, by the way.

I'm not saying don't try anything, but especially with her minority status be prepared to have things back-fire on you. The unfortunate reality is that some people have to be survived~

Yeah black and female..you are screwed. Every female co-manager i have ever seen does no physical labor while the white male ones do EVERYTHING. Then I watch them get promoted before them. Don't worry..white males will be the minority soon if you can wait that long.

At my store, the black female co-manager is the only one who really helps us get anything done when there's a problem.

Well maybe yours just suck, because our female co-managers kick ass, whereas it seems like the two guys we have are always wandering around aimlessly. It might be because they're on the younger side, they seem more interested in being friends with everyone and goofing around. But just try and tell them something or complain and watch them try and side-step everything you said.  There will always be sucky co-managers regardless of gender.

Well I was told -off the record of course- that H.R. and Operations will turn a deaf ear to any complaints about minorities especially women. A white male manager can be fired or demoted just because the wind changes directions but if you have a rule/policy breaking, hateful/demeaning, under performing/lazy black female reported on then you will have to produce significant lengthy documentation with plenty of willing coworkers to testify as witnesses before HR will even call her in to smack her on the wrist. Even then like the one person said that manager can then retaliate against you and your group with no fear of  retribution from her bosses. Even if it got so blatant that HR had to act then watch that biotch get moved to another position and then after a couple of years they'll move her right back in to store mgmt. or even a promotion. By no means am I saying all the black or women managers are like that but there are quite a few that use the race/sex card to keep their butts out of trouble. Diversity is way more important than merit in Barneyland right now.

You must be a white male. And also ignorant, judging by this statement. I'd post as an anonymous also, if I was you.

At my store, the 2 male co-managers are predictable. If they are upstairs sitting at their desk, then the store manager isn't in the store. When he's there, their desk is a no fly zone, you will not see them even remotely close to it. Our female co-manager is ALWAYS on the floor doing something, it doesn't matter where the store manager is.

It has nothing to do with your race or gender, it has everything to do with your work ethic.
