for us direct deposit on thursday, paper checks are available friday around noon

Never. Why would you want to get paid? Some people pay to have the kind of fun you can have working at Kroger.
Here, direct deposit appears around midnight on Wednesday. Checks come in with the truck Wednesday night, available Thursday.
