Experience pay?

Is there such a thing as experience pay, where you make more based on the amount of experience you had before you came to Kroger?

Indeed! Make sure you write about it in your Kroger application and ask about it during your interview. It does indeed exist.

yes, but only if you worked in a grocery store. If you worked in retail other than grocery you have no experience according to Kroger Corp. This is the way it is treated in our Division. I was told that a cashier that we wanted to hire with 20years in retail cashiering but not grocery. Starts out at base pay, no experience. No wonder we can't get good help. If you have to start at the bottom why change jobs.

I got experience pay. I actually discussed during the interview process when the service director made it clear that she wanted to hire me on the spot as a cashier after finding out I had already worked as a cashier. What happened was for my probation period I got paid minimum wage like any starting bagger, but after my probation period ended and the supervisor found that my work was satisfactory my experience pay kicked in. I didn't press too hard for a high amount because I was so thrilled it was being offered, I think they basically gave me the pay raises I would have gotten had I been working at Kroger all those years instead of at another store.
