I work customer service center, 4 - 8hr shifts, and we are never given breaks. Our managers don't seem to think that we deserve them - after all we just stand around all day and do nothing! Of course we are called to give the rest of the front end their 15 - 30 minutes breaks. Somewhere the management, corporate & union need to step in and take matters seriously.

Anyone else work CSC and how are things handled at your stores?

all you have to do is crap your pants one time, and they'll forever take you seriously when you tell them "i need to go. NOW"

Aren't breaks in the union contract? For 4 hours, you get 1 break and for 8 hours you get 2.

Your contract states you get a break. Most states have laws that employers must give you at least 1 break. This is a serious violation of your rights. Get the union involved. NOW.

Nah, not dramatic enough. I would suggest telling whomever is capable of giving you a break behind the desk that you are going on your contract-mandated break now and if they want the desk manned, they should step back there. Keep a contract book in your pocket. When you clock back in, if anyone tries to tell you that was out of line, throw the contract book at them and walk off. They can't do a %@@#^ thing.

the floor supervisor should be giving the service desk its breaks.  sometimes when i'm on the floor i don't get to my own break.  i keep track and try to break everyone.  it can be hard to get everyone in without disrupting service; it's more an art than a science.  on the floor you need management to cooperate if they're needed to watch it for you which you break customer service or youself.
