I don't know about ralphs but in my division a department lead makes 14

It's not one set hourly rate anywhere afaik. It depends upon your length of service, department, store size, and contractual details.

That's for backup and only until you pass certification. I don't have a new contract book but in the local 227 contract that expired last the top pay for a full time clerk was $13.70. Department heads made from $17.90 to $18.70. The rate is based on store sales. The rate for assistant department heads was from $15.15 to $15.90.

It depends on what store sales are. I'm produce dept head and make 17.40. Also depending on what dept your in. Meat dept head will make a little more.
