ok i have worked at kroger 6 years. i have had so much trouble with my department head in fc. i dont know what to do. we have went through all the channels. assistant, manager then onto our HR. they have have put him on probation. behavior still continues. lazy, starting trouble between employees in fc and lying. possible stealing, blaming shortages on other associates. the list goes on and on.if there is deciet then hes doing it. bullyin an what other associates consider harrassement. i agree with it all and have even experienced it. we have went as far as we know to go but there has to be something else.   our enviroment is so stressful and my coworkers are so nervous. we were told to move on after they talked to him. his behavior will improve now. it has not. they are afraid of a lawsuit. he has sued him twice in the past over injury and won. in help please!!!!!!!

Sue for what? Are you in an at-will state? They should be more afraid of the other employees that might file a complaint for harassment and/or hostile work environment. I quit a job and filed for unemployment due to a hostile work environment and won, so why put it past those FC workers?

Best of luck with this one. Our "hero" at the last store happened to be a Union Steward as well. Most of what you stated in the OP could apply to him as well. Even went so far as to blatantly lie to people when we were negotiating our last contract (who believed him, afterall, because he was on the Negotiating Committee!!!).

The only thing I could do was transfer out of his department. I took a paycut, but I also took advantage of him not being my supervisor and let as many people who would listen know what kind of d-bag he really is.

I also let the union know what was going on, but they couldn't have cared less. They did absolutely nothing. Management was afraid of the guy, too. No one wanted to do anything, and just said, Well he'll be retiring in a few years, better to wait it out...

Kroger and the UFCW are an absolute joke.

Idk if you are still having this problem but just take it to coorporate. I'm not to familiar with a way to contact them but find out. If they still do nothing, then you either transfer to another store, or go for walmart. Lol sorry but I know kroger couldn't possibly be paying you enough. I love kroger but I know where the boundries are as well.

And as for lazy ass I would straighten him out. No violence or anything just say look I'm not here to baby sit and you're not he to stare at the ceeling so I suggest you get to work or clock out and go home to whoever. Your on the clock and that means I expect you to be productive not stand around and gossip and start sh*t like a 13 year old little girl.  You don't like it there's the door. Drive safe. Go to Wal-Mart. ... they lookin for lazy asses that ride the clock, you'll be right at home brah.

I would just hang in there and let Kroger take care of him. I had an ******* market manager who made my life a living hell for a year. It was very brief.
