What is a cashier's starting pay? Want to compare.

Hey everyone, I am curious about what pay cashiers and other employees like deli, floral, etc. start off with and how your raises work. I am a pharmacy technician and started off at $7.40 and still make the same amount. Ive been with Kroger for 8 months now and Im due for a 10 cent raise in five months. The pay, for the amount of work we do, is very low. I like the people I work with and the schedule, but I'm starting to think it's not worth it. No wonder they have a hard time retaining pharmacy technicians.

Minimum Wage ($7.40, Michigan). Baggers get a ten cent raise after 6 months, those in departments get a ten cent raise after one year.

Cashiers get paid the most at $8.00 after a year.

Raises typically are given every year of employment until top pay (which is less for part-timers).

Check your contract for specific numbers.

Have you not taken phase 2 and 3 tests yet? We get a 75 cent raise after you pass phase 2 and a $1.00 raise after phase 3. What division/state are you in?

I'm a pharmacy tech and I make well over $10/hr.

at ATL division cashier's start at $7.30 and get a nickel raise every six months.  there's no premium pay, you only make more by staying longer or moving up to ACSM or CSM.

In Ohio we have 3 phases of testing, because per state law we have to be trained to state law standards (Emilys Law) before we can work in a pharmacy. Phase one is your CBT's, then Phase 2 is a written exam on Emilys Law, drugs, pharmacy law, etc. Phase 3 is a practical test. Inputting insurance, workmans comp, data entry, some more questions about drugs and some other things I can't remember. I've never worked in a pharmacy outside of Ohio so I'm not sure how other state laws work. Our training we go through is acceptable enough to state law that you do not have to be PTCB certified in order to work in a pharmacy. Some states require you to be nationally certified. However, we get a 75 cent raise if we are certified and Kroger pays for our certification ($129.00).
