Well since e-scheduling was put into my store, our deli department has been getting screwed. The help is usually scheduled many hours apart. This past Sunday there were only three of us scheduled in the deli all damn day. Since the rollout of e-schedule we've lost 4 people. And hired only one to replace them. One guy in the department. gave notice that his last day would be the 4th of July because he was moving out of state the next day to go to school. Yet e-schedule scheduled him on the 5th and 6th. And of course we aren't allowed any overtime to cover his shifts.
The deli isn't the only department getting screwed. Our front end never has enough people anymore, and the lot is usually full of carts when I go in on morning shifts. Grocery hasn't gotten an order done the night it came in, because they have gotten their hours cut and the few people they got spend a significant portion of their shifts unloading trucks for all the departments since we close at midnights now and the trucks never arrive on time any more. Talked to a guy at another store yesterday and he said our manager was calling his store asking for help in grocery.
And getting back to the deli, I go over to the department on my day off today after getting some stuff and saw a new girl thinking we hired someone new. Wrong! It was someone called in from another store because the woman scheduled to close tonight, who had quit over a week ago was still on the schedule. If she hadn't came in they were seriously expecting the woman closing our bakery tonight to close both departments. Shes a good worker, but is a year or so away from retirement and has a bad hip that causes her to limp badly. And they expected her to close two departments. WTF!
Well this concludes my rant, ya'll have a good night!
We haven't had any problems that are that bad with e-schedule yet except that it was trying to do dumb things like having someone who's never baked before scheduled to come in at 5 am to bake.
But expecting one person to close both bakery and deli? You can't be serious... there's no way in hell ANYONE could do that without having overtime, bad hip or not.
That's your department head, not eschedule. They have the ability to change the schedule to effectively run their department. ELMS says I need two closers at night, and one opener. I know my department and know that it's the opposite, so that is what I schedule.
