Hi all, I recently started working at Kroger about two weeks ago, and so far, so good. Well I am 15 and was hired as a courtesy clerk and have been there long enough to join the union. Well a thought had occurred to me, I am a student and was hired during the summer and I am kind of worried that they will let me go when school starts back due to my low hours. Will they do this? Now I am a hard worker and very obedient when listening to my supervisors. I like working here and would like to continue working for a few more years, so Will you guys please hurry and reply?
Well, if you are a hard worker, they would be ill-advised to fire you, regardless of your availability issues during school. I can't say they won't try to fire you, but kroger is very familiar with working around school schedules and labor laws for teens, so I wouldn't expect it to be much of a burden for your supervisor.
As long as you don't do any major screw ups on your probation and do your assigned tasks you'll be ok.
But showing up late constantly, Calling in sick all the time, being belligerent with co workers, supervisors, customers, can get you canned. Also the basics; theft, being under the influence of drugs and or alchahol etc
Avoid the above mentioned and do what is asked and you'll be ok
