Had this problem once.

Quickly checked likely placed it could have been. Nope.
Asked a few people who were likely to know what happened, no helpful responses.
Informed management as soon as I realized the problem and had no solution. No problems for me from it.

It is expected that supplies be returned to wherever they belong, that said looking is a good thing to do.
People derp all the time. Don't compound the derp by saying "Oh well, not my job" for something potentially this asinine.

If it was hidden in the corner of the dairy cooler, the dairy guys need to get a talking to.
If it was plainly visible with a small search, you probably should have looked for it.

Today they had me come in at 5 am to get things cleaned. Well because no one can put things back where they were gotten from, I couldn't mop. Granted I should have looked, but I feel that I shouldn't have to look for something that should've been placed back where it was gotten from. Now they are telling me to call management office for a "butt chewing" we'll rahrernthn doing that I high tailed it right outside to finish my lunch. I'm not going to deal with management on my lunch.

I just know this is going to be "MY" fault for not looking for the mop and bucket. Maybe I should make. Sign that says 'put things back in the PROPER location?

There are always people stealing our sh*t in the bakery.

We have had several squeeges disappear never to be seen again.
They then tell us to mop the floor every night.

We don't have a scrub brush.

We had our nozzle for the hose disappear last week, my managers response was to steal one from someone else. I didn't want to do that so I just used it without a nozzle... which didn't work all that great but whatever.

People need to learn to either quit stealing stuff or just learn how to put it back when you're done!

Eventually found it... Was hidden in deli dept. granted they use it from time to time, but so does everyone else. That's why we have a "home base" for it. I remember one time we had no wringer to wring out the mop. I had to wring a nasty mop by hand when I was cleaning. The wringer has not been seen or located since then. We have since ordered 3 more. 2 out of the 3 ordered have been busted and one works so so. But we can make all 3 work

I've learned to hide things away whenever I go get supplies for the deli bakery.  If I get something be it gloves, paper towels, or trash bags and don't hide it, it's gone the next day.  I don't mind sharing, but they take the whole thing.

Let me make sure I understand this.... you couldn't find a mop and you only looked at mop sink area? So you let this be your roadblock from completing your assigned task. Now mgmt. is upset because of this half hearted effort on your part and you are upset because you're going to be reprimanded. Either you're the type of person who let's the least little bump in the road stop you or you are always looking for some new drama to whine about. Even in a big store it would only take ten minutes tops to check dairy cooler, deli area, produce backroom, etc. then you could've completed your job successfully and then returned the almighty mop to it's designated area. Like the Old Man on Pawn Stars says "Some peoples kids!".

Yes, but, the question is, should OP have had to do that to begin with?

The answer no matter how you really cut it is yes, BUT, should this be a matter of shared responsibility? The main point of contention here is how much responsibility it was for deli to return the mop bucket.

The more posts you make about things, I think the management in your store isn't as bad as you make them out to be and you have some more "mega-kitteh" issues than management issues. Try putting forth some effort, you admitted yourself that you didn't even look, so why complain about it? Employees like that are a dime a dozen and can be easily replaced. So I reiterate..try putting forth a bit more effort and the "butt chewings" should lessen.

the real crux of the matter is this...

how hard is it for anyone to get on the paging system and see if the mop bucket is around? then you cover your bases in at least trying?

Maybe OP doesn't know how to use the paging system?

I know how to use the paging system just fine. It's just that mgmnt put me on a time limit. We had visitors, and they were coming in at around 8 or so. And mngmt wanted things so clean you could let a baby eat off said areas so to speak. I had hardly anytime to look for the mop and bucket to clean the areas. It's annoying as hell because usually I am excellent in cleaning. And asking where a mop bucket is...everyone answers "I dunno..." I explained this to mngmt, they said they would talk to everyone during our next huddle.

You mentioned you could not mop. I cannot mop because my store will not order mop handels. I have the old handels but they have changed to the screw on type of mop heads. The squeezy handes are the ones that work. But we have not been getting them. I am not going to worrie about it anymore. If I cannot mop oh well if it's dirty then I will tell them to order some damn handels.
