Getting fired for scanning a plus card that's not registered. telling customers  its the complimentary card for customers. Go to the union and file a grievence claiming depression. I can't make this stuff up.

I don't know about the whole "claiming depression" part of the issue, but I've seen multiple cashiers fired for plus-card-related issues and I'm sure they tried to get the union on their side and failed.

Techelite is probably correct on this one. There is not a lot the UFCW can go to help a discharged employee get their job back for this type of offense. I thinking claiming "depression" is a scapegoat tactic, you are just to cover up accountability. If you truly are experiencing those issues, then its a different story.

They made a big deal about not doing this in cashier training when I had it about two years ago.  You probably signed papers saying you wouldn't do it, so you are probably out of luck.

at some stores the cards are on a rack on the wall. if a customer gets one and "forgets" to drop it off at customer service how is it the cashiers fault the plus card isn't registered ?

They seem use the plus card to fire people especially the employee plus cards be very careful and only let  you use your card.

Employees should only have one card that they use for themselves and the people under their roof, no one else.  

I suspect what was happening is this card was showing up in lots and lots of transactions, repeatedly, throughout the day.  It wouldn't be a stretch to suspect the cashier was trying to build up fuel points, or something, the sly for their own benefit (directly or indirectly).  They committed fraud, and misused company assets, in a manner in violation to policy they signed when they did their computer training.  

We have a copy of the generic manager's "forgot card" at each register, some of us even know the number by heart.  I assume it's similar in other stores so there's no defensible excuse.  

The only time management has told us to "cheat" is on Senior Day.  They'll have us scan a brand new card for the customer so we can apply the senior discount as you can't apply it to the generic "forgot card."  It's not really a cheat since they just get a new card.

It has nothing to do with the employee's personal card.

What is being discussed here is the act of scanning a plus card which doesn't belong to anyone yet for a customer who doesn't have one and/or keeping a card at the register to scan when they come through line. I don't know why your division would be any different, but most divisions expressly forbid scanning an unregistered card for a customer. In fact, it is a fireable offense. And yes, the same plus card # showing up multiple times throughout the day is something the MAX system looks for when scanning for improper actions at the register.
