This will be my second week of working at Kroger and in said week I have gone from being a clerk to a fuel station attendant. I currently am still part time and thus do not know if I am able to have health insurance through work or not.
Could someone point me in the right direction? I did not receive much information on the health and wellness care--or anything for that matter to be perfectly honest--, so if I could get some information or a web address to look at it myself?
Fuel station clerks such as yourself are not eligible for health insurance or "any other benefits of a monetary nature" other than paid time off. Allegedly the my union UFCW 876 in Michigan was trying to get health benefits for full time lead fuel clerks only but since I have yet to receive a copy of the new contract I cannot verify that. Best bet if you need health insurance is to transfer to a store position and get out of the fuel center.
Umm, were you hired as a courtesy clerk or fuel station attendant? If you were hired as a courtesy clerk I would attempt to get back to that position as it has slightly better benefits and a better chance to move to another department, even if you have to take less hours. Fuel center attendants usually don't have benefits, and you won't be able to apply for any open slots in the store until you have a years service. Long time to wait for the possibility of moving into the store and getting some benefits.
