Question about drug test and background check
Permalink

Over a week ago I went and took a drug test(the cotton swab one) at kroger. She said the drug test will take 2 days(for them to receive it and test it), then the background check will take one to two weeks. I know I will past both of them unless they act uneducated on their end(like doing the background check on the wrong person)

My question is, Is it normal for the manager not to contact you after the drug test has been received by the company and I passed(I presume)?

And how long does the background check take? I know she said 1-2 weeks but I want some real times.

Bagboy btw

you can call and ask them how things are going. They will let you know if you failed anything.

1-2 weeks is pretty close to real time for background check.... In my store we tell them 7-10 days on background check and on drug test 3-5 days.....

If you have nothing to worry about, then don't worry. They aren't going to waste the money on drug testing you if they didn't want to hire you. Drug testing is one of the final steps to getting hired. If you pass, they will schedule a orientation which means your in.

Side note: When I was "hired", I never actually got told in those words, "Your hired" or "We would like to add you to the team." Nothing like that at all. Got scheduled to do a orientation and with being my first job, didn't know that meant I got the job. Very confusing the way Kroger hired me personally.

Man, I hope you respond to this because the info you could possibly give will I think help me.

I was drug tested. 90% sure I passed. 10% chance THC found. Stupid of me, but they sprung it on me, and I'm done smoking for good. Anyway, 10% chance that I take seriously.

The saliva test was 12-13 days ago. A week later I was called for orientation. Hired, just as you said. Signed all the papers, got my kroger name tag, clocked in and out, got the t-shirt, the whole deal. Computer training and watched videos. But one paper I signed, which the kroger person briefly explained as if it really meant nothing, said that "we are hiring you before your test results are in, therefore, if you fail we can fire you" basically..."Sign here". So, I signed it, and with this quick one page paper the manager person quickly said "b/c your results aren't in" herself. These little details will become important very soon.

And now on the 12th day of not knowing for sure whether I passed or not, I called the lab agency that does the testing. They pulled up my name/specimen ID # and it was received and "Reported" (Results found, I'm assuming" the day after my first interview, when I was to my surprised tested on the spot. This is like 12 days ago. They said: They have it. They SHOULD have it. It's been sent". and referred to the MRO (stands for medical something but all they do is directly get the results to the actual kroger store). I called the MRO (its like a smaller agency or something) and they too pulled up my name and specimen ID#  and said just what the lab agency said. Received and reported the day after my interview, results in (but they wouldn't say), and they said it was sent to Kroger. I specifically said "So, Kroger has the results now?" to which they replied "Yes".

So, I'm going in again soon. What do you guys think? Did I pass? If not its going to be so ****ty. I'll have to postpone my classes. and I'll get through all the crappy computer training just to be humiliated.

If you could share YOUR experience and compare it to mine and tell me what you think, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Did you have to sign a paper about hired before results are in? Is that paper just another scare tactics to weed out the real druggies from the applicants? I KNOW that Kroger does hire people before results are in and fires them. I've known it to happen once. But it just doesn't make sense.

Are my results actually in? Did I pass?

Would it tip off Kroger if I called just to ask?

(Anyone who can help me out, share your experience, or tell me what you think the deal is with this confusion i'd really appreciate it! This sucks!)

Sorry if my grammatical errors or missing words makes anything too confuses. All the agencies involved I called and they all said that the results were in and sent to kroger a long time ago and that KROGER HAS THEM, the results. When I say what at the agencies said (They have them) I mean Kroger has the results. And the Lab agency referred me to the MRO because that company or w/e is the last step in Kroger receiving the results.

Is there a chance Kroger did that-

(and by that I mean: made me and another girl there at orientation with me sign a paper saying that when are results come back, if positive, we're fired)

-to just reaffirm a no drug policy, sort of a way to weed out the real druggies, and they actually have my results (as every agencies says they do) and I passed?
