On August 5th I started my training at the Kroger Training Center & completed training. I "worked" 19.50 hours & when I viewed my paystub online it said I earned $118. This week starting August 12th I started working at my store location. As everyone knows new employees like me have to pick up checks in person because it takes 3-6 weeks for direct deposit to even set up. Today I went to customer care to pick up my paycheck since today was Friday but it wasn't there. I immediately talked to my hiring manager but she was very vague & acting like she didn't even know what the hell is going on. She mentioned that maybe the pay from training would be included in the next pay period's paycheck, but a girl I went to training with received her paycheck today. Honestly what the ****? Words can't describe how upset & disappointed I am. I am not in the type of financial situation where something like this to happen is ok. I need to buy necessities such as food & personal care items & need to pay off bills, but unfortunately this all will probably be pushed back another week....unless that paycheck gets lost too! I am just so unmotivated to even go back to that place & work.
That's the purpose of a pay advance. They temporarily reimburse you the pay you were supposed to receive and you pay it back when you actually get it. Your hr person knows exactly what is going on; if she doesn't it's because she didn't want to look. She knows how or she wouldn't have gotten where she is. Tell her she has 2 options: find your check or give you a pay advance. She's essentially refusing to do her job.
Back when we all got paper checks I used to wait four or five weeks to pick mine up. This was when I was in school, so I didn't NEED money. They never lost one, those were some classy broads working the desk.
