Cincinnati (G.O.) stores for real????

I was in the Cincinnati area to do some local site-seeing and such and was shocked to see the local Kroger stores in such poor conditions!!! The buildings look old and run down and the state of the stores were horrible!!! Comparing what I saw there to the conditions back at my home Division, it amazes me that Cincinnati would have the nerve to set Standards and judge other stores in the Enterprise when their's are in such deplorable conditions...

In my home Division, our stores are clean, modern, and welcoming while theirs are dirty, dingy, and not worth the shopping experience! It would amaze me if ANY of the Cincinnati stores would score over 49% on Key Retailing!!! If any scored higher than that it's because they were dishonest and the Re-Certification was fixed...

It's  shameful that anyone who works in G.O. can sit back at their desks to pass judgement on other Division's stores and standards when they are neglectful of the conditions at home...

Cincinatti on it's own is dirty, dingy and deplorable. You'll also notice that the inner city stores in Cincy are the worst, while the ones in the burbs get all the attention, just like everywhere else.

 That's the truth, right there.

Kroger certainly has tiers of stores. They're not going to put a high end store that sells all kinds of exotic fruit and what not in an area that buys white bread and packaged bologna.

there's three tiers. there's value that focuses more on price and cheap goods, there's the regular stores and upscale that have 'weird' stuff.

In Cincy, there's two Jungle Jims for exotic fruit and other high end or unusual things.

Yes, I know there's Finest, Mainstream and Value tiers. That's no reason to let the stores run down to a delapidated state... The value stores in my Division are 20 plus years old but our Division has had good sense to update and remodel them a few times over the years... Our "value" stores are just as nice as our "finest" but on a smaller scale...Our customer traffic and sales jumpped 2 folds after the last remodel... There's NO EXCUSE for ANY G.O. stores to be as deplorable as they are now...All the money spent on acquisitions should be invested back into remodeling/rebuilding our delapidated stores, that's what will bring in more customers and more money...

Yes and I must say I enjoy giving Jungle Jim's my entire paycheck because of the service and variety they offer.  They are truly a one-stop-shop and every visit is an adventure!!! The joys of discovering new foods as well as finding old standards that Kroger refuses to carry (even as special requests) makes the shopping experience a pleasure for any Foodies AND definitely "Makes Me Want To Return".

Their cashiers are definitely more knowledgeable as they are able to identify exotic produce without looking it up and their baggers ARE friendly as hell!!! As soon as I started to help bag, he gently reminded me that I was there as a customer so I should just sit back and enjoy the shopping experience...A++++++++ for Jungle Jim's...

The Customer Experience...investing through proper staffing!!!

Something Kroger Abandoned 20 plus years ago for Corporate Upper Management Greed!!! This company is going by way of Winn Dixie fast!!!  Key Retailing AND all this paperwork...exactly where Winn Dixie was before the close their doors for good!

I wish Jungle Jim's would open a location here in Louisville/Jeffersonville (Kentuckianna) area...they could stand to make lots of money as the consumers here are very diverse and would flock to their store to appreciate the vast assortment of exotic and finer food items...Purhaps a location near the Summit or Springhurst area to captures sales from the Upscale neighborhoods and still be close enough for the rest of the metropolitan to shop...

They would be THE only place I shopped if they opened a store here...fuel points, plus cards, HA!!! Who needs that when there's Jungle Jim's...
