If I transfer stores do I keep my seniority? My local is mi 876
Yes and no...Yes, if you are still within that Union's jurisdiction you keep your seniority...however when at the new location, you may have lower seniority if there are other employees that are already were hired before you...
Here, it seems like if someone does get promoted to department manager, they get transferred.
But not in all cases. What was ok for one employee isn't ok for another. They're picking favorites or something.
That's because department manager positions have to be bid out to other stores. An opening for a grocery manager at a store means that people might apply from every surrounding store, and whoever wins the bid will transfer to the store with the opening.
And how is it decided who wins the bid?
Is it only based on seniority?
Do they interview candidates?
Because I know someone who put their name in for a dept. head position and wasn't even looked at. Even though they had more seniority than the person who got the spot (from a different store).
