Hello all I am a part time employee and have restricted availability.... my manager scheduled me on one of my unavailable days without my permission and I can't work the shift what do I do? I told this manager I couldn't work the shift and she said she would fix it but she hasn't
Just ask her again if she fixed it. It might be an honest mistake. But then again they might "need" you. This happened to me once or twice. Management scheduled me on an unavailable day. It wasn't a mistake. It was PURPOSEFLY done. But then again my mod manager was a dick.
they're not gonna do it; find someone to cover it for you? this happens all the time. stupid stuff.
kids in school being scheduled during class, employees who have already had their last day get scheduled in the following week, scheduling two eight hour shifts in a day, scheduled to be your own relief (that was fun!), two eight hour shifts scheduled too close together (I already know it's not gonna be fixed), scheduled on days you're permanently unavailable, scheduled seven OR MORE days in a row across two weeks (the union said this is OK ... "needs of the business" ).
sorry, union, but the needs of the business is to not starve me (no break happens often) or schedule me so I'll be exhausted and not even know my name.
the schedule writer should look for these problems when writing the schedule and deciding whether to approve requests for days off. lots of these things the software itself shouldn't let you even do. you want to tell the no, the union tells you they'll write you up for refusing to work and you'll have to grieve it and in the mean time no one is able to cover the shift so everybody gets pissed off and pressures you to "be a team player" "oops my bad it won't happen again" only to see it happen a few weeks later.
Uh my understanding is you can't be punished at all for not working a day that is contrary to your availability. Once they accept your availability, it is officially approved and they have no choice on their end but to replace your shift if you cannot work it.

I know Cuz its still on the schedule online and on the wall in the back room and the day in question is tomorrow..
It sounds to me like someone that has been there longer got Monday (Labor Day) off. The above quote was posted Sunday so that means they meant today. Maybe the person that needed today off is in "the click" and gets what they want.

Clique. Not click. I'm not the spelling police, but seriously, you're already on the internet. . .look it up.

My boss has done this to me before and it is soooo irritating. What upset me more was when I called in to try and get someone fix it they told me it was my job to find someone to cover my shift if my CSM schedules me out of my availability. What?

Oooohh they lied to you... Not surprising but only an idiot manager wouldn't think someone would set you straight. If they accepted your availability, they were agreeing to not schedule you outside of it.
