I have been a cashier/ drug dept helper for the past year now. So lately they started writing people up because of our holes during primetime. I have been off for two days but I hear there's a write up waiting for me. Hypothetically speaking could I get fired for tearing that write up in two in front of my boss and realistically speaking what if I just refuse to sign it? I feel as though its not my fault. I am part time. I work there two or three days out of the week and usually its for like 6 hours. I work continuosly sometimes I dont get a break. they say theu can write us up for not completing our job is that true?
Also I have one previous write up for 15 minuted of over time from 8 months ago. Could I get fired for getting two?
Most likely no. Is a ca write up which goes in your file. Or is it a Significant incident. These are two different write ups and they have different effects
Typically old writeups are thrown out after probation. I would sign a statement that suggests that you stayed busy and I would start writing out the times of what you were doing. Just be up front and honest with them. If you want you can exercise Weingarten Rights and have your union representative present.
I request to have a union representative present only behalf during this meeting because I believe it may lead to disciplinary action being taken against me. If I am denied my right to have a union representative present, I will refuse to answer accusation questions and any I believe may lead to discipline.

Write ups "fade away" (actually go dormant after 6 months or so, but reactivate themselves when you try and go thru arbritation) a write up is STILL a write up EVEN if you refused to sign it. Talk to your manager 1st and see what's up. Chances are, you won't be written up, but id check just to be sure.
When I got demoted and it went back and forth through the company they actually lost my file -- a clean slate. I did have one write-up, but it wasn't justified. It was a re-grand opening and i asked an associate that was helping to check for out of dates and when the date checking people came they found several out of dates.
