We have a new co-manager that called for a huddle at 8:30 PM in the evening. I can tell things aren't going to be for the best. I'd like to see her call meat department to the huddle when we have 1 associate working at night.

Judging by some of the posts here, I don't think everybody will agree, but at the store I work, I think I've been really fortunate when it comes to co-managers. I've heard of co-managers on power trips, yet none of the ones that I've worked with in the past or currently have abused their authority from what I can see. I've heard of co-managers that couldn't care less if an employee was unhappy about something, yet I've never seen that trait exhibited by the ones I've worked with. Do they get kind of stressed out around the holidays? Sure, but we all do and everyone has a day where he or she might be on edge for one reason or another. Just as I enjoy working with a lot of the employees at my store, I enjoy working with the co-managers and I love how I can talk and joke with them when the time allows for it. They work hard too, and jump in to help when the help is needed, even if it means doing something like bagging or getting carts, and the more you work and talk with someone, the more you see that person day in and day out, the stronger that work relationship becomes and the harder it ends up being when some higher-up one day calls and gives that person pretty much no notice that it's going to be that person's last day at a store and that the following day, that person needs to report to a different store. There never is even enough time for everyone to get a chance to say goodbye. That person ends up just being gone the next day.
Our new co-manager seems like she'll be nice and pleasant to work with and I've already jumped on one opportunity to work with her and sort of highlight how things are done here, so I'm not worried that she's going to be really any different from the co-managers I'm used to working with, but I still dislike how corporate treats co-managers. It seems corporate just doesn't care, whether you're on salary or an hourly employee, your feelings and your efforts are irrelevant. Corporate wants things to run smoothly and efficiently at its stores yet the actions taken by corporate make that hard, like when co-managers get moved from store to store and everyone, including the co-manager, has to readjust. Just seems counter-productive.
I've seen so many co-managers come and go I've forgotten most of their names. The worst ones are the brand new ones who have been freshly brainwashed by the company and are trying to make a name for themselves
I go to huddle when I'm the only one in the department all the time. they say one person from each HAS to go anyway. if other stuff doesn't get done because of the huddle, that's their fault...
we had a really nice new co manager at our store for awhile. Friendly, semi-cute, etc. She was fine until Gi...I mean our zone mgr showed up one day and she got smart with me in front of the zone mgr. I think it was just a show to prove she could do it.

We used to have nightly huddles every day when I still worked in Deli/Bakery. It was mainly for the service departments, which are all right together and was held in the aisle that runs through them. It was nice to know they cared for everyone to know what was going on in the store, instead of just the people who worked in the morning.
