Bagger to cashier time?

Hi all!

This is my first post here. I've read quite a few stories on here and can't believe the crap that goes on at some of these Krogers.

For a bit of background info my Kroger is nothing like that. It is very well managed. We are actually in the top 20 of Krogers overall. All the floor managers are cool and even be store managers are fun to be around.

Currently I am a courtesy clerk. (Bagger) I was officially hired July 22nd. However Esched was very new to them at the time and I didn't get my first shift u tip August 17th. I am a miner, 17. Ill be 18 in July. My question is how long on average does it take to get cashier. There are a couple minors as cashiers the one took 6 months the other took 4 months. There are many bagger that have been there (minors) for 3-5 months. They don't see cashier in their future anytime soon.

I am a very hard worker. I don't mean to gloat but I probably am one of the hardest worker baggers here. the store manager already told me once I turn 18 I will be moved from front end because be likes me and says I'm a food worker. Some of the floor managers already like me a lot too. They are all collage kid. They switch who the floor manager is And the others just work as cashiers or money services people. The person in front of front end only works during the day. I absurdly every see her.

my question. Is do those collage kids have a say when/ if I get cashier. Or am I out of luck because I never worked I. The summer to show the front end manager how good of a worker I am?

I dont hate my job but would prefer cashier. I really do t want to get carts once winter comes. (Ohio) how zooms boils I expect if I should in the first place cashier?

thabks for reading!

Typed on a phone so autocorrect decided to mess everything up.

Some of the typos were not able to be deciphered. I doubt you'll be promoted to cashier before you turn 18. I could be wrong. It's happened before.

It's entirely possible you could be promoted, but you do have a couple things working against you right now.
-you are a minor and, no offense, but nobody likes having to worry about scanning beer for minors; it always happens at the most inopportune moment
-you are low on the seniority list to be promoted from courtesy clerk
Also, the only people in your dept who have any say at all are the dept head and their backup. The floor supervisors can put in a good word, but they have no actual authority over promotions.

You are a miner? Find any good ore recently? Just joking.
I agree with the other posters - it seems like you're low on the seniority list, however it's not unheard of.

It really just depends on how well your CSM likes you. I myself didn't get promoted until I was at Kroger as a bagger for a year and a half whereas we had a girl get promoted after two months. Around December we had a switch in CSM's and our new CSM was actually willing to give me a chance. :)

Alright.

I talked to the cashier that got promoted as mini or after four months and he said one of the floor managers kept on putting in a gooforks for him.

Compared to Michigan I guess they could be mild. We still get a lot of snow and miserably cold temps. Pretty much 10-20s all winter! Not as bad as Michigan tho! know people that live there!

Hahahaha! What? The East side of Ohio is in the snowbelt, and they get pummeled with snow, the Western side of Ohio is flat so all winter long the wind blows and it cuts right through you. Ohio winters are the same as Michigan winters. I grew up in Michigan and live in Ohio now. It's the same thing.

Ohio can't hold a candle to northern mi and the upper peninsula as far as snow goes. They had snow every day in the up last winter.
