How can I get it changed for Kroger to start playing gospel music at their stores? My friend Tammy and I want gospel music b/c we like it. Who do I have to email to ask to play gospel songs? Does anyone know please? Thanks Terri

Not sure, but wouldn't that possibly alienate customers of a non-Christian (or no) faith?

Yes, I think I read that in here too.

We play classic rock at night and country during the day.

Most people are turned off by Praise Jesus Christ music.  I am persoanlly turned off by rap Christian music.  Then, you will have customers of other faiths that do not believe in Jesus.

You have to be practical.  You can't request it 24/7 hours a day.

You could probably get away with Hosanna soundtracks without words.  I worked in a restaurant that did this.  It is actually calming.

If you are to approach your store manager, be prepared to get a sour face at the suggestion..and be called a Bible thumper.  Have some examples and tapes ready.  You could recommend Gospel music for senior citizens days.

If not hosanna sound tracks, I would recommend the really old Gospel songs that people are not aware are Gospel music.

"Amazing Grace"

"Swing Low, Sweet Charriot"

I wish they would do something different with the music. I am tired of listening too the same stuff everyday. Its not managers choice it comes though the internet connection streaming it too the stores. All Krogers play the same music. That way kroger has control over the commercials for flu shots, forever stamps, the pharmacy having the lowest prices, Cherry's, Peaches, Pears,  Milos Sweet Tea, 4 times the points on gift cards.

But I am tired of listening too  Muskrat Love, Black Velvet, Alone by Heart, Rita Coolige where all alone. I mean they over play those songs.

I really like Black Velvet. I don't know why, but it's a great song to sing along to.

I'm lame. Whatever. I don't give a damn.

Kroger should be sued for pain and suffering. That music can drive people insane.

Not true at all. While our music is streamed over the internet from the music provider company, no two stores will have the exact same music all the time. This is because managers do have control over what genres of music play. They fax or email a form to the company and it lets them control, in 30 min increments, which genres play and what % each plays during those times.

If you don't like what plays, voice your opinion to your store mgmt. If they tell you it's out of their control, it's honestly because they don't want to fool with it, not because they actually are powerless.

I'm not the OP but, over ten years ago they had a different system and the controls where up in the computer room next to the offices, and I would  change the channel!!!  It had a list of the channels and I just pushed a button, so I guess that is why they changed the system.  It probably happened at other stores too, so they change the system where that not just anyone could change the music.

Under old management, I was able to look at my watch and call the next song.

Now, I'm sweating the holiday season.

A couple years back, the Christmas music started Halloween Night.

Halloween Night.  Goddamn.  Do I need to say anything else?

My problem is that I'm a good cashier, so management won't let me move to the offsite fuel center.

Well, I've been in a Salvation Army before where they've played gospel music around the clock, and never heard any complaints from anyone. I believe they still do, too. That being said, Kroger radio has played that one MercyMe song in with the mainstream stuff...I even heard "Amazing Grace" on the Fourth of July, when there was a block of patriotic music, so it's not that that they haven't played ANY gospel music...You just have to pay attention and listen for it.

You're not there to listen to music.  You're there to work.

I know I'm there to work but it would be nice to have some music I like to listen to while I have to be there.

Captain of her heart by Double KICKS ASS!!!111

Also, my Kroger usually plays a good blend of 80s classics.  I usually enjoy it.  If I had to hear gospel, I would probably suicide myself.  It would also be cool to hear The Blow's "Parenthesis" while at the deli

The songs they play are pretty violent. I often hear encouragement of killing a radio star in cold, merciless blood.

You know...I often wonder what all these other stores do...I've heard things like Tamela Mann's "Take Me To The King" over and over in the Salvation Armies...Apropos to their mission and nothing wrong with that...Other times, I've heard "oldies" in the St. Vincent De Paul...Even a long time back in the grocery stores, I recall hearing songs from MercyMe, Take 6, etc. But, one thing I've noticed nowadays is that this same new music that Kroger plays incessantly is piped into all these other stores and venues...We're not the ONLY workers who have to face the aural abuse...Walgreen's, Target, even some of the local coffee shops...I get so turned off by the repetition everywhere I go, so what is a person to do when they want a change once in a while? I wish there was an automatic way for the system to change genres once in awhile to reflect all the diversity of the shoppers therein, but I guess that would be more trouble than just having a pre-programmed set of the same tunes...I'd love to hear some more thoughts on this, though...Have any of you guys heard the same music in other stores and were turned off by it? disbelief
