Eschedule grievances?

Hey, I'm a store steward In a shop that is starting eschedule soon. Just wondering if anybody has been able to grieve and win anything pertaining to eschedule yet???? A lot of people are going to be mad from what I hear.

My store starts it next week. People who were just hired in are scheduled to work morning shifts by themselves with no prior training.

Remind me again how eschedule is supposedly better? Kroger deserves the grievances they get. The new system obviously was not made for the benefit of the employees.

That's not eschedule's fault. It's their dept's schedule writer's fault. They neglected to make sure they checked their schedule adequately before they posted it. Things can be manually specified in eschedule just like they could be in SKED.

The writer did correct. He shouldn't of had to though. It should have been correct the first time.

The newer ppl being scheduled earlier than the more senior people should have been done right, but I would almost bet money that happened because the initial setup in eschedule (which is quite extensive when done completely) wasn't done right.

However, the issue of them being scheduled without prior training would stem from the same issue. The program has no way to know exactly what in their primary labor they are qualified/not qualified to do. It assumes the job is the same no matter the shift. SKED was the same way, but had been around for a long time and was better, though by no means perfect, at scheduling based on seniority, which would have solved this issue.

I was one of the people at my store who got scheduled a shift to be the only file maintenance person on one day to take over for our head being on vacation, despite me not being trained to do the non-tag day stuff yet. Last week's e-schedule at my store was a disaster for pretty much everyone.

I haven't seen yet what it's like for other people at my store next week, but I just checked my schedule for next week and it seems better at least. The only downsides are that it looks like they're now doing that "all part-timers have to get under 28 hours" which is weird for me since I was used to getting 40. That's also resulting in certain shifts being divided up into weird ways. Self-scan at my store always had the same 3 shifts for a LONG time, and then now suddenly it's being changed up a bit to fit me on the closing shifts for 2 nights without giving me over 28 hours. On one hand, I'm glad that they've got it figured out and it's giving me the shifts I was wanting, but on the other hand, getting much fewer hours sucks.

Well, at least File Maintenance almost guarantees overtime every week since we rarely have enough help to finish everything on time.

As of now schedule writers are only allowed to make minimal changes. There is an article from 2012 announcing these changes as a way to offset expenses from obamacare. As of now esched is part of key retailing. Our store will no longer get checks so they are going strictly by the numericals and the schedule must be 90% effective.

Can you shed light on insurance and hours?

Is it possible I could be dropped from my insurance?

I am a part timer with 6+ years under Mi contract 876.

I have been getting 32+ hours a week but the schedule writers are trying very hard to keep me under 28 hours a week.  They need to hire 5 more grocery clerks to accomplish this!!  During the last open enrollment, I was qualified for full time insurance.  I do not have any dependents so it doesn't make a difference to me.

When I look at the DDP and the hours they are scheduling us, it is not possible to get the work done.  I always volunteer for extra hours to keep the workload on schedule.  If we get one truck behind, the hole count in the store escalates...  We are supposed to be switching to a new delivery schedule soon and that might relieve me of some of the extra hours I have been picking up.

Well, yeah. As for when, the average qualification is updated quarterly. If you average less than 30 hours for that quarter, you'll be dropped. You can requalify for the next quarter and benefits/contributions will continue again.

Ick, I just glanced at the union handbook.

So, If I do not average 30 hours a week for Jan, Feb, March, My insurance will be dropped in April until I average more than 30 hours again?  Or, is it dropped the next qaurter?

What is a person to do to get insurance for those gaps to avoid getting penalized at income tax time?

I need help with Plan C.  Keep some kind of insurance.

Plan B is to get hired full time.

Thanks for any input.

I have the same problem. If i'm not careful, i'm going to lose my insurance too but what can I do? This week I only have 17 hours.

I was talking to a co-worker last night who works on the front end.

She was getting mad because of the insurance, she's been averaging under 25 hours a week (and so have i) and she apparently asked someone if she could be dropped. She was simply told "wait by the phone".

She told me that if she gets her insurance dropped, she might as well quit because that was the only reason why she even stayed with that job.

And this is a lady in her 60s. That's sad that they're doing this to employees like that :(
