were/are you a courtesy clerk? you might be classified wrong. you should've seen it within a week or two of your 6 mo anniversary. under some contracts courtesy clerks don't see raises until 3 yrs and it's 25c.
ive got 8 months experience an i still got minimum wage an i been a kroger goin on 6months an i got 5cent. as a raise bull
Welcome to kroger.
Yah, they nickeled me like that too. 6 months a nickel, 1 yr a nickel, 2nd year was a .20, 3rd year was .80, 4th year was 1.00, 5th year was 1.50, 6th year is sweet.
Wait until you read your contract and figure out where you top out at in pay in 6 years. You are not going to be happy.
It's true that you "top out" in pay in 6 years, but that just means all future raises are negotiated as something called a "top rate adjustment."
those TRAs are why I make several dollars more than the listed "top rate" in my classification, and why most employees that have been there 7+ years do as well.
5 cents is what your union has negotiated for you as a raise. I'm going to tell you what I've been told, only you don't have enough time invested for it to hurt you like it would me. Read the contract - if the raises, "benefits," etc, listed aren't what you want, find a job with another company. (Yes, I'm still looking for other options, but I can't just go to another store and get a job because I'd lose seniority, vacation time, and more than $2 an hour. Even if I found a full time job, the difference in pay means I'd be making less take home pay for more hours.)
I know people who have been with the company for almost 30 years, and only make about $15 an hour. That's actually really good for retail work if you aren't a manager, but still ...

I don't quite agree. If you're not happy with wages and benefits, my suggestion would be to read up on other union's contracts and see what they're offering their workers. Knowledge is power, and you might be able to convince others its time for raises in your union's new contact compared to those of your neighbors.
Then again, a lot of people probably won't be able to wait till' a new contract is being negotiated.
Nope. Though if possible the best thing to do is transfer out to a perishable department and work your way up. Most in my dept get $.50 raises every 6 months. When theyre near the top it goes up $1.25 / hr
