If you have a doctors note and they still write you up anyway I would take it to the union. These are excused absences and the write up will be thrown out. Also, i'm curious did they just now write you up for it that was something that happened weeks ago? If so, they have only 3 days to write someone up over it.

My Views and Opinions do not reflect that of the Kroger company. I'm an indivdual expressing my 1st amendment right.
At my store call offs and no shows are becoming a real problem, especially on the front end. Well management at my store have been going through all the call offs for September and writing up anyone with more than two. Well in September I had to call in three times, twice for a personal illness (which I'm still having problems and seeing a specialist for later this month), and once after my dad had open heart surgery.
Well I've have never been wrote up for this before in 9 years with Kroger. Granted I usually don't call off often and when I do with the exception when my dad had some problems after surgery, I've had a Drs. excuse.
Well my question is should I go to the union for this? I've never heard of being wrote up for this especially with a dr. excuse for two of those days and I called with more than two hours before my shift twice and three hours the other.
At my store you will also hear, " An absence is an absence and a tardy is a tardy". Employers don't care about what you have going on off the clock. You just need to be there. That is the mentality.
Union. If you have a doc note for your dad, or all 3 you may be able to get the write ups dismissed. **** their write ups! (Kroger's on my **** list right now)
Doctors note or no, they have within 3 of your working shifts after an incident to write you up for it. You have 7-10 (depends on your contract) days to grieve a write up. This is an easy one.

Yeah, well so much for that question on the employee surveys that asks if your company lets you balance your work and your life effectively. Sometimes there are pressing issues that demand a little more attention. In everyone's life, I don't care who you are, there are and will be situations you can't control. That's just reality. Even managers have medical issues and whatnot. I've had managers who took time off for surgeries, maternity leaves, and whatnot, so it's not just the employees. Sure, things might have been easier if they had been at the store, but you know what? STUFF HAPPENS!!! What part of THAT don't people get?
