and what's up with managers, office people, and supervisors trying to force me into caring about quevision?

If YOU did YOUR job better we wouldn't be in this mess! As red vests you need to stop bagging groceries/talking to your friends on register and direct traffic, you twits! @_@

Ok so it seems like Kroger supervisorsdon't care what your going on in your life just expect you to work I'm expect you to not feel anything what comes to your loved ones in heaven a miscarriage or anythingelse family relatedI feel like no one cares about my feelings and they only care about themselves well corporate managers and everyone else at Kroger are selfish and inconsiderate and the only care about what Kroger wants nothing elseI'm tired of working my ass off for Kroger and then I have to put up with this b*******I'm tired of it

The both of the first two posts are bitches. It is your job to care because that is providing customer service. Also We have a lot going on and most of us try our best to keep our coworkers, management, coorporate, and our customers happy. You try to keep que vision at 90 % with no help. Suck my dick and go to help you ass wipe.

Being a "red vest" is a tough job and it's tedious. But being a leader means you ask as much of yourself as you do of other people. Before yelling at other people or criticizing how they're doing, maybe if you're a FES, you should ask yourself if you've done everything you can.

You do NOT have to yell at people. Sympathy and providing extra help works. Also my motto is and AlWAYS will be; REGARDLESS of ANY policy is: FAMILY FIRST customers second!! I have ALWAYS abided by this and ALWAYS will!!!

in ATL division, local 1996, supervisors used to get a 50c/hr premium for taking on the work they do.  that hasn't happened in years.  they get paid what cashiers get paid with the same seniority.  but they're held to what is a standard that too often can't be met.  there's bad scheduling, call outs and other surprises like far more customers than the system predicted.  they don't catch a break.  

if "someone else isn't doing their job," the supervisor is yelled at.  courtesies, utilities, uscan attendants, cashiers ... anybody.  have a dip?  get a call from management.  you have to adjust based on the manager on duty.  some are happy to let you run things and step in only if needed, some are micromanaging micro-brains.  some will insist the service desk person come out to cashier, others yell at them for doing so saying the'll be trapped at the register so don't let them do more than bag.  some will tell you it's your fault someone didn't clear the lot or left a mess overnight even if you'd left for the day.  yes, I had this happen to me.  some will insist even on a dead morning you confine your cashier and courtesy clerk to the front at all times even if there's other stuff that needs doing.  others will say it's slow, send the cashier to do go backs, they need to keep busy.  

i have been told to my face positive reinforcements like "no one is reliable," "there's no one worth anything here" and "i'd fire everyone if i could" among other gems like how we skip our meal break because "leaders need to make sacrifices."  for real. 

even the acsm in 1996 only makes 50c/hr over cashier pay.  that's how awful things are.  they don't want you to move up, they don't want to incentivize, they don't want you to want to work.  they want to use you up and spit you out and move to the next one.

we have a co-manager who loves to yell, particularly when he's opening manager or the unit manager is on vacation.  this is absolutely the worse thing he could do.  i see time after time he gets people off their game, myself included, they make more mistakes, they end up talking about him and not focused on the job, on customer satisfaction.  he sets a monstrous, disastrous tone but he thinks he's motivating and single-handedly saving our store from another day of total failure.

he's particularly a pain because he'll sit upstairs and watch the cameras and call down every few minutes to carp about this or that.  he'll threaten your job.  he would be completely incapable of being a FES let alone a FEM.

I couldn't agree with you more. Corporate and store management wants certain goals met yet supervisors aren't given the manpower to meet those goals. As a consequence, you, as a front end supervisor are unable to give breaks on time, and as a result, everyone working on the front feels like putting in even less effort because not only is the pay essentially reflective of how little Kroger values you as an employee but breaks aren't even given out on time. Also as a consequence, the other departments get angry because they can't get their work done and are being put down by their department heads and management due to them being called multiple times an hour to check and get carts. On top of unhappy employees, stress and aggravation associated with Que-Vision compliance and dips, customers that are either dishonest or incapable of basic reading and listening comprehension, Kroger has the nerve to say, "here's a heck of a lot more responsibility... but don't expect any extra pay". There's simply no incentive to agree to be put through all that. I did it for a short while and got out before I got in too deep. Being a front end supervisor at Kroger is, I think, the worst job in the whole store. It destroys a person's confidence. It ruins a person's day. It makes a person not want to show up for work. A real lack of professionalism and order shines regularly on the front ends at Kroger stores that isn't visible at Walmart, Target, Tom Thumb and other grocery chains and it's amazing that customers don't seem to care and corporate doesn't seem to care, either.

No, it's not my job to care because: 1) I was hired to move an item from one side to the other, take money, and give change. Not deal with corporate BS. That's just stress. 2) red vests trade doing labor for more responsibility. So go direct traffic.

I refuse to take on the extra responsibility while also doing the job of 3 people, for under $8 an hour. Screw that and screw you.

Agreed. If you want me to put more ony plate that normally is not my job, then I expect to be paid a little more. Example: I do NOT do $20.00 worth of work for $10.00 an hour. You want $20.00 worth of work done? Then pay me the $20.00 an hour.
