I need to know the starting pay for a salad bar associate and a salad bar manager. I'm considering applying there as a temp job until i can find experience in web dessign/IT. Any info would be helpful. Thanks ;D

In the mid south, you are considered a produce clerk. I'm not sure about everywhere else. The only time you get more on the hour is if you are in an extremely high volume store that does a certain amount of salad bar sales. Those are few and far between.
I just pulled out my trusty union handbook and looked up the starting pay for the salad bar. to my abhorrent shock, it is a measly $7.25/hr. I pay my son more to pick up the dog poop in the back yard. And that takes only 15 minutes. Ask for experience pay even if you don't have any. worth a shot. max pay for them (after working 8500 hours with Kroger) is a paltry $9.40. For all of you who are unable to figure out how long 8000 hrs of work time is - that's 4 years!

for 7.25/hr forget that idea then. i do have 3 years experience from kroger working on the front end so maybe id be able to demand a higher wage but it seems like i would have much better luck applying at best buy. at least id get to work with technology and be paid slightly higher for it, which, according to employee reviews, starts off at around 9.50, which i can live with temporarily. thanks for the replies btw

yes you are welcome. Kroger to the naïve new employee gets them in for very low pay and gives a 10¢ pay raise every 1000 hours (1/2 year @ 40hrs). So if you get even $8 to start, in 5 years time you still will only be making at best around $9! Its crazy! TO ALL NEW POTENTIAL KROGER EMPLOYEES, PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS! Look at the Union / Kroger negotiated pay scale for your job and see what will happen. Look down it and try to find a decent place to hop in at where the next several pay jumps will be more than 10¢ and see if you can get hired in at those rates. otherwise RUN!!!!!
